The host Ismo is a real celebrity in Finland. Staying on the ship is unique. The breakfasts with the special view on the spectacular sunsets - unforgetable! The beds are super comfortable, cabins cosy and perfect for godnight's sleep. You can use the kitchen all day long, relax have tea or coffee on the upper deck. Ismo offered us a personal lift to the university campus where we had meetings. Highly recommended for both business stays, retreats and family escapades. All within a walking distance. Great sauna with a restarurant and access to skinny dipping just round the corner.
This spa hotel is beautifully situated by Lake Kallavesi, 5 km outside Kuopio. It offers free Wi-Fi, indoor and heated outdoor pools, as well as a very large smoke sauna.

Kuopio is a clean beautiful city, filled with warn, receptive and easy going people. The noiselessness of the city is awesome despite filled with energetic and lovely people. The structural organisation of the city of Kuopio is perfect. The Kuopio city centre, the melting pot of fun seeking personalities is a fantastic site to behold especially towards the evening.
The Kuopio city transport system is great especially the bus system which I used more often. I noticed the bus drivers are usually relaxed and patient with passengers to get on board. I also discover that hanking of vehicle horns were none existent. Finally, Kuopio is a city to behold, with warm-receptive people, with beautiful sceneries such as lake around University of Eastern Finland. The people of Kuopio are very lovely and are ready to assist guests.

Small city that looks to me like an postsoviet American suburbs mixed with fisherman lodges and german bricks. For me, the architecture itself was not appealing at all, the only things I really appreciated were the Kuopio Museum (very cute), lake views and fantastic University. If you are a fan of extremely slow and chill places where you feel like time has stopped, I would definietly reccomend, for me it was just lacking a certain character.

whatever you want, go to kuopio in winter. the whole place is like Europe used to be "once upon a time" (well even more like what Geelong (Australia) used to be like in about the 1950s. None of the special "modern tensions" (so oft depicted in current scandi-tv series) is there in Kuolpio. and of course in winter in finland there are not a miooion tourists (which might be the case in summer for all I know).
you just gotta go to Kuopio

We just have stopped there for the overnight when traveling to the north of Finland, but we were lucky to come on the eve of Finlad Ice Marathon, so we took and advantage to skate on the lake at night with fire lights. Strongly recommended event.

The best location is Centrum of the city of Kuopio, next to the center. Nice and lively head next to the market. The inhabitants of the Kuopio city of Kuopio are happy, talkative, helpful and honest. This city still has good Christianity and a Protestant Bishop in power. Here it is also nice to move along the different streets to the lake shore. Even to swim or play tennis.
Near the centrum hotels there are restaurants, shops, an interesting fresh market and nice cafes. The center of Kuopio is a safe environment for vacationing, shopping, eating, drinking coffee and being and enjoying yourself. In addition, Kuopio has the best Police in Finland. The police arrive at the Centrum market place in emergency situations in about 5 minutes.
I have also lived in Kuopio for 20 years.

Bike and pedestrian friendly city, really wide cycling and walking paths, usually separated from busy roads. Also a cheap electric bike rental system - 10€/week. The marketplace is a must-visit, small but so nice and varied, and there's this really nice lady there selling baked goods and she speaks perfect English! The tower is also nice, and it's fun to go to the ski jump and see actual jumpers in action - also during the summer! Visit the harbour and walk around, and use the cheap bikes to go around the city to the islands and forests, there are so many nice connections. The city also has so many nice parks and green areas. What I don't like: there are many mosquitoes, so find a place that has mosquito nets on the windows and spray yourself if you go outside the city. It's also quite expensive, but that's Finland in general I guess, not just Kuopio. In general, really a place worth visiting!
The hotel/spa location was excellent ( in front of lake). It was pleasure to swim on sandy beach. Also spa was excellent. The room was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very good and rich. Also dinner was tasty.
We warmly recommend this place to stay and enjoy.
Great location in the centre of Kuopio.
Very friendly staff , that nothing was too much for.
Perfectly equipped bedrooms, ours had a view of the market square.
Fab breakfast with choice of hot or cold options. And also gluten and lactose free options.
Getting the key was like looking for a treasure. Many pictures sent where exactly is the keybox, but I found it.
It was warm inside
Liked the glass balcony, but it was too cold to be there
Kuopio bay and ice skating very close
