This is a very special place to stay. An old defensive tower given a new life. The breakfast was excellent. Our room was huge and supremely comfortable. The welcome on arrival was second to none.

An excellent port of call for passing through or a short stay to take in the local sites of interest. An excellent breakfast is part of the package but the evening meal if you is a pasta delight to die for. Rocco’s experience in the restaurant trade comes to the fore. Both Rocco and Isobel are such a delight it is sad to say goodbye.

Villarcayo has limited appeal in itself but an easy size with local shops bars restaurants and garage with low priced fuel. However, it is convenient base for touring into the Cantabrian mountains, northern Spain and Euskadi (Basque) areas.
Great hotel,let me put my old motorcycle in their below level storage area,so out of the heat of the sun,and no need to unload my bike and hump all your gear to the room,also as a very kind gesture gave me a free bottle of beer,as I had been riding for hours and hours in the hot sun, breakfast was great,had late dinner in el Cid's restaurante next door,also brilliant food and service
Everything was exceptional. The bed was so comfortable and the facilities were spotless. We arrived on bicycle via the Camino Natural Trail that is near the hotel and they stored our bikes in the garage which is this amazing cycle-rental center with beautifully maintained e-bikes.
The lady who met us at reception was lovely. She was very helpful, very friendly and was easily the best thing about the hotel. She was so nice that I feel a bit bad about the listing the stuff that I didn't like about the overall experience...
