It was very comfortable and nicely located for our cycling trip to see la Veulta 22, stages 13, 14 and 15. Jaen is a fabulous city with great restaurants and street entertainment.

You need to be fit and active to get about the hilly setting of the city.
Obviously traffic is heavy but a good portion of the streets are pedestrianised.
Street beggars and graffiti are common place as in most cities.
History, religion, olive oil and panoramic views are plentiful.
Spanish language skills need to good.

Interesting part of Andalucía often overlooked.
Interesting part of Andalucía often overlooked. It has a cathedral and Arab bath ruins. The town is hilly. There is a castle on a nearby hill, but you will need a taxi to go there. One thing about Jaen that you do not find elsewhere in Andalucía is that impatient drivers lay on their horns. Jaen is very hilly so take your time and rest as needed. The sites and architecture at the top of the city is amazing.

Jaen is worth a visit, a beautiful view from the castle, a cosy old town, good food and friendly people!
The castle has an interesting history, and the Cathedral is a must while exploring the old town! Do not forget to taste the local food - it opens new experiences to you!!
And if you enjoy shopping -all that you need you can find both in a huge mall Ingles and in small cosy local shops! The olive oil is sure the best in Jaen as it is all surrounded by huge fields of olive trees!

The room was terribly hot, a true nightnare, I didn’t sleep at all. The 2 rooms were sold with airco, but they weren’t working. In the morning the reception staff couldn’t care less that I hadn’t slept at all. I felt terrible, nobody was sorry, apologized or could understand the fact that I complained about having bought a room with airco to find that they didn’t put it on.
I have never seen such a bad attutide of reception staff.
I will never go back.

Jaen is a very classy town and at the same time with a young heart.
The views to the mountains that surround the town , the cathedral, the arab baths, the history museum and ,not the last, the many Michelin restaurants are enough reasons to plan a visit.
When I booked it, did not realise it was a hostel...not obvious from the info on Booking.com.
It was VERY basic...we had to make up our own beds.
If I had known that, we would have chosen another location.
Considering it was a hostel, it was VERY expensive. I have stayed at hotels in Spain for less money and with MUCH better facilities.
