A lovely city to be in, plenty of places to visit in the city; lots of cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops. Lovely walks around the lakes, woods, and river. Central shopping areas is pedestrianised so no cars.

The real value is the nature and lakes area.
The real value is the nature and lakes area. Ideal for hiking, cycling and swimming.
The city itself is not bad at all, with a long pedestrian area and some nice spots along the Gudena river.
Restaurants are closing very early.

I enjoyed my weekend stay in Silkeborg with my dad.
I enjoyed my weekend stay in Silkeborg with my dad. It was a bit short due to unexpected travel plans as my fjordswim event was suddenly cancelled but this does not misjudge a lovely day and very nice people with a friendly smile
Everything was perfect. Søren was a very accommodating guy that helped make our night in Silkeborg very seamless and comfortable. The place was very clean and we got a welcome gift in the form of sparkling water and gummies on our beds when we arrived, and the location was great (Rema 1000 was practically in our front yard). I would definitely book here again for future trips to Silkeborg.
The property is in a peaceful location next to the Aqua aquarium and wildlife centre. Parking is easy and free and the property is no more than a 30 minute walk from the centre of Silkeborg. The breakfast choices are varied and plentiful with empty dishes being constantly replenished.
Surprised at the quality and innovative of the breakfast. A delight! Very proud to know Danes are at the forefront when it comes to hotel breakfasts in comparison to other places in the world that used to champion it.
Loved the ginger shots and interesting choices of oats etc.
My husband and I had a great stay at Grethelund, just outside of Silkeborg. The room was perfect for our needs. The area around Silkeborg is very beautiful (lots of forests, lakes and hills with walking trails), and the main sights are a 15-30 minute drive from the property.
From the outset it seems like a great hotel, but inside it reminds us of Hotel Transylvania.
We were expecting danish hospitality from a local hotel but discovered an Eastern European service that reminded us of a visit to Warsaw 3 years ago.
The B&B was just amazing and all the details and furniture was really beautiful! The location is very convenient at a walking distance from the center. Our hostess was super friendly. Really a great stay and a place we would recommend highly!
The hotel is very beautifully located. Both the restaurant and the breakfast bar had vegan options, and we were very happy to see that for breakfast, there were actually very clear marks for vegan/vegetarian/gluten free on all food.
Unique experience staying staying at a place of this age. Spoiled with wonderful breakfasts and dinners. Enjoyed walks along Denmark's longest "river". Absolutely picturesque and peaceful, and right at your back door.
Rooms are nice and clean which you would expect of any hotel ... but the location is exceptional: in the middle of the forest, close to fantastic lake views and baths ... and still walking distance to the city center.
The host are amazing. They really liked to interact and service me. This property is also amazing. I am taking my wife there hopefully soon. I would not do that with any business hotel. 🙂
Comfortable camping pod - it's not a cottage in the UK sense! Decent toilet/washing facilities. Nice lakeside walk of 2km to river/lake boat station. Morning fresh bread service.
