Stayed in a suite and it was very well equipped with 2 bedrooms and a small basic kitchen. The room overlooked the Mosel river.

It is a very small village where they produce wine and people are very friendly. A pretty idyllic place and in my opinion one of the most beautiful places in the Mosel to stay for a weekend.
There are plenty of restaurants, wineries and bars. It is possible to hike on the Moselsteig (official hiking route) or just cycle along the Mosel.
The only negative is that it can be a bit difficult to reach if you don't have a car. Trains only go until Bullay and from there you have to take a bus to reach Zell.

Many restaurants and cafes, bikes for hire plenty opportunity to try local wine before buying. River obviously had a lot of rain before we arrived as it was quite high, you can cruise either on a short trip or longer allowing you to stay on board. Lots of villages and towns in the area to stop off and explore.

Zell is a cute town in a beautiful river valley.
Zell is a cute town in a beautiful river valley. The river boats often make a stop but the town never felt overrun with tourists. The town has Black Cat vintages (wine) and keeps up an easy hike around the grape vineyards with nice explanations as well as benches for a break to enjoy the view. Restaurants , ice cream parlors and wine bars are plentiful in the summer months and many stay open year round as Zell is quite temperate.
Beautiful, picturesque, lovely relaxed atmosphere, loved the large statue of the big black grinning cat raising a wine glass. Great hiking area I suspect, but was only there for 1 night regrettably. As a single female traveler I felt very comfortable and safe.

I have visited Zell on a number of occasions so know it quite well. There was plenty going on at the weekend as it was the federweisser fest with a street market and a display of old tractors right outside our apartment. At this time of the year as well going up the Mosel valley it is quite easy to find walnuts!

Ratskeller: there is no lift for taking the luggage upstairs. The hotel had a great breakfast. The rooms were a good sized rooms with a powerful shower . They offered good housing for bikes.
This is a very central plus the hotel is also an Italian pizzeria.
A great Gasthaus hotel. Spotlessly clean and very big suite with a fantastic shower and two balconies no less. The lady who owned it was very friendly despite a language barrier. Breakfast was the usual buffet affair of high quality.
Perfect location, easy access. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. We have stayed a few times and this will always be our hotel choice in Zell.
The restaurant was fantastic for both breakfast and dinner. Fabulous stay
