We didn't plan ahead to go to Salem, we just chose a hotel that had availability and then found something to do nearby. So we arrived and visited the Cistercian Abbey which was quite nice. There are other options in Salem but we ate dinner at the Jagerhof Restaurant in Uhldingen-Mühlhofen next door to the Tractor Museum that we would like to visit on another trip. In the morning we drove to Pfahlbauten (Stilt House Museum) also in Uhldingen-Muhlhofen. Plenty to do in the area of Salem.

Salem has a nice abbey and castle that are certainly worth a visit. It is also a good base to visit the surroundings. The Zeppelinmuseum in Friedrichshafen, the piledwelling museum in Uhldingen- Muhlofen and also Switserland are close to.
The hotel is located right next to Schloss Salem, so you are actually living on the compound of the Margrave of Baden. We had a view of the palace garden. As a hotel guest you are entitled to free access to the palace compound, a very nice bonus. The look of the hotel is rather old fashioned, but oozes out a lot of character. We had our bikes with us to get from the railway station to the hotel.
Wonderful friendly family owned very clean hotel with amazing breakfasts on the edge of a quiet village and plenty of greenspace. We also enjoyed the outdoor pingpong table and that is was only minutes to several things to see including Meersburg. Saturdays a bakery truck comes through for a little bit so you can pick up some yummy pastries too.

The hotel is located ideally next to Schloss Salem. It is very quiet there and the surroundings are beautiful - one hears the church bells and can see the grounds of the Salem Abbey (depending on the room). It has a restaurant with a terrace downstairs. Breakfast was minimal but it suited us.
Wonderful place when you are looking for rest. Very interesting environment for hiking or bike tours in nature + visits of Salem Schloss and Bodensee region.

The breakfast and service at the Landgasthof hotel were always amazing. I really enjoyed my stay there and the staff was always so helpful even when I couldn’t speak much German.
nice clean hotel located on the outskirts, friendly owners allowed us to check in early, good choice for breakfast, we had room 23 downstairs with a lovely small patio area.
