This area is a good route from Dresden and Leipzig to the Czech Republic or, southward, to Nuernberg and Muenich. It was just over the former wall dividing Bavaria from the DDR and Saxony. There is a long history of the German Volk, but many of the buildings are only a few centuries old, the area having been razed during the Thirty year war, the Napoleonic wars, and WW II.
