Amazing scenery. Definitely get out on a bike or electric scooter and go along the footpath next to the river.
The evening light show is amazing and definitely worth going to, but it is expensive and, be warned, nearly all the spectators (a few thousand of them) will be on their phones and talking very loudly throughout the whole performance.
West Street at night is worth seeing once. It is slightly tacky, but in a pretty way.
Silver cave is very pretty and you get a free headset in English (presumably other languages too). I can't believe that Reed Flute caves in Guilin are better, yet they are a lot more expensive.

Nice "little city" and a good base to see Xingping, the Silver Cave, Ruyi Peak and of course the cormorants (in Xingping). I'd love to have done Xianggong Hill. Most tourists do one of the two shows but I watched bits of the video and thought, not for me due to our limited time. I think 2 dinners in West Street might have added a bonus. Oh, try to get your Didi working.

I think Yangshou shines the best when you are trying off the beaten path things: climbing, caveing, trying local food (not just Kung Pao chicken, come on) and renting a scooter.
I'm genuinely impressed by the environment, people and abundance of culture of Yangshuo.
I tried a lot of local delicacies including oil tea 油茶,snail noodles 螺蛳粉 and beer fish. Definitely something you won't be able to try anywhere else. I liked first two, not the last one :)
I loved exploring surroundings via scooter, it is such a nice thing. And you have a chance to enjoy superb infrastructure of China. You won't believe me if I tell you that Yangshuo has highways with both motor- and bike- lanes. Simply amazing.
I recommend trying outdoor climbing and even caveing. There are many great spots (ask your hotel host, they should be able to tell you).
Come and enjoy.

For me, I went to Yangshuo for a relaxing getaway and that's just what I got. I don't know when the last time I have been this relaxed. I have friends who go there for rock-climbing and go a few times per year. The city is not very big so you don't need a lot of time going from place to place. I would advise to stay somewhere outside the city, like, within 5-6 kilometers and just rent a scooter. Actually, riding the scooter helped me get familiar with the city a lot better. And it's a form of meditation in and of itself, offering a bit of concentration as I got some sun on my face and cool wind in my hair.

Yangshuo is one of the prettiest parts of China in our opinion. The beauty of the Karst mountains is stunning and never bored us. The diversity of the mountains is a real treat for the eye. There are plenty of activities around like caving, climbing Moon hill, bamboo rafting the yulong river, exploring the environment on a rental scooter (¥30,- a day) or even helicopter and hot air balloon rides! Don't miss out on the local beer fish, a dish famous for a reason! Dine at Yangshuo Mountain retreat (the Brew) for the best tranquil dinner ever! Have lunch at 'Moon Hill restaurant' before or after climbing the mountain. The restaurant is located right next to the entry of the hill. Amazing view while eating local food. Take a few hours to visit the cable car, glass bridge and view platform of Ruyi park, lovely as well.

Yangshuo is located in the midst of a beautiful and tropical karst Mountain landscape and there are plenty of attractions ranging from caves to cable cars and tea plantations around, but the town itself is highly commercialised and most businesses cater to domestic package tourists.
The views are amazing from this hotel. The pool was very refreshing after a very hot day of sightseeing. The staff (Craig) was very helpful and he spoke very good English which made our stay easier. The bed was comfortable. They gave us an extra key card so that we could keep the aircon on even when we weren't there - it was so nice to come back to a cool room after a day out in the heat. The food was good and it was really nice to eat dinner outside in the evening and look at the view of Yangshuo town.
The place has received great comments from many travellers before, in particular foreigners and families. With Expats in China, Li River is kind of the recommendation to spend some leisure days in Yangshuo. Still the location beneath the river and surounded by carst mountains is superb. Rooms are ok and in good state, family room a bit small, though. The pool is a great plus and first hand everything looks neat & tidy, but...
Lovely Asian style family room on the top floor, fantastic location in the old area, with lovely views and backs onto the Li River.
Very friendly lady who speaks English and is extremely helpful with great local advice.
Loved the terrapin, cat and dog!
Delicious breakfast included - lovely to have eggs, bacon and toast as well as fruit and yogurt after weeks in China. Also a delicious Asian breakfast on offer.
Modern nice Hotel, the staff was amazing and very helpful. They support You on booking tickets. We booked the bamboo rafting, and it’s was amazing. They booked a great operator. Scooter available and many suggestions where to go. Silent located at small road but very short distance to west street
A hotel with temperature, cleaning and service are very good ! The scenery of Yangshuo is also very good,we like it very much, and we will come back for an in-depth if we have the opportunity!
