Staff are friendly and helpful, most can speak enough English to help out if our Mandarin was not enough. Hotel looks old and dreadful from the outside but is good enough renovated inside. Aircon, bathrooms, lifts etc all worked as they should. Firm bedding in good condition. No serious noise problems. Breakfast was comprehensive, local and western style. No pool but the Gym is spotless and in good condition. Very close to a Metro station (line 1). Stayed 9 days May/June 2024. Room service daily was replenishing supplies (including bottled water, necessary in China) emptying bins, refreshing towels if needed some bathroom cleaning. Hotel would have been almost the first to be built (opened 1982) with the opening up of China in the late 70's, and would have been a top level place back then. Photos on the walls include Margaret Thatcher and Jimmy Carter.

From Reception, room service, Concierge service and last but not least the Restaurant. Here we have to mention especially Mr. Rain Dong who made our stay very special.
