Korla is a beautiful city with wonderful people and delicious food.
I enjoyed walking along the Peacock River, and eating Xinjiang specialties in great restaurants. Some restaurants were fancy, most simple neighborhood places. In one of them I ate the best noodles ever, and spoke with two of the owners in broken Mandarin. Korla people are very welcoming and communicative. They wanted to talk with me in spite of my poor Mandarin.
Public transport in Korla is excellent. Taxis use meters and are very easy to hail.
I will go back to Korla as soon as I can.
