one day in enshi grand canyon and one day in flying dragon cave fitted our time plan just right despite rainy conditions. if we could have one more day, we could utilize more. otherwise, I recommend an early wake up to finish enshi grand canyon all in one day.

The town appears to be very poor with problems like prostitution and drug trafficking. If you don't know Chinese, you likely wouldn't notice, but you will if you can read the various signs and ads along the main street. It is not a good city for tourists unless you are keen on seeing a poor small-ish town in rural China, where ethnic minorities live.

Enshi itself is just another small Chinese city but it has the most astonishing scenery in the form of the Enshi Grand Canyon tourist site. About an hour and a half drive from Enshi, the canyon is a force of nature, tamed by the Chinese. Take a cable car to the top of the 'Seven Star Village', view the canyon from above, or walk the cliffwalk that hugs the rock face. The whole experience lasts approx' five - six hours. Buying a two-day ticket will allow you second entry to the site enabling you to go down to the three hour Yulong Crevice walk. Both are worth seeing.
A two hour drive north of the canyon will bring you to the lesser known (and less touristy) LuYuanPing canyon. Again, astonishing in its beauty, and also with a very high cliff walk. If you have the time I would recommend a visit here. There is a very fine gorge walk which really makes you feel you're in the land that time forgot. As will the drive to LuYuanPing, which is farming country. There are many opportunities to stop and buy fresh vegetables or even locally grown tobacco.
For those feeling more adventurous, take a short helicopter ride through the canyon. You won't be disappointed.
