So much to see. The day trips were packed and whistle-stop.

So much to see. The day trips were packed and whistle-stop. I could have spent longer at most of the locations. Such a beautiful area. Because the day trips were so long, I needed to take a break between each one so I wasn't over-tired and I could properly enjoy the experience.

Easy to get around on taxis and buses.

Easy to get around on taxis and buses. Easy access to the Dunes and Mogao Caves, all near town. Easy going city that’s right on the edge of Gobi desert with beautiful dunes. Two full days was perfect for us. We ate at the Shazhou night market each night and it was so fun and delicious!

    1). Worth visiting once.

1). Worth visiting once. 2) Worth buying English version of books as it provide more detail info and descriptions than what you can actually see. 3) Good and very cheap public transportation to anywhere. 4) Delicious BBQ and boiled lambs. Eat only st Muslim owned eateries as they are more authentic, cheaper and gives bigger portions. 5. Not worth visiting any great wall sections there as there's nothing to see and admission is overpriced. Better to visit the Great Walls in Beijing, esp the Jin Shan Ling Great Wall, Mutisnyu, Huanghua Water Great Wall or for a more challenging experience, Badaling or Nu Yong Gian Great Walls (nearest from Beijing if insufficient time) 6. Go visit the 1700 year old Lei Ying Temple after your visit from Crescent Moon Lake/Ming Sha Shan as its only 1 bus stop back. And the Dunhuang Museum. Both these 2 places are free. But do make a contribution to the Temple by dropping noney into the collection boxes in front of each Buddha statues as imthe columns and outer walls are in need of some care.

Nice place but the attractions are too commercialised and too crowded. The entrance fees are way too expensive. In my opinion, the Western Thousand Buddha Caves, Yumen Pass & Yangguan Pass can be omitted.

Very nice, well equipped and spacious room. The breakfast in the garden was pleasant, with simple but delicious dishes. There was a very sophisticated souvenir shop cum cafe in the hotel, and an art gallery, both of which we enjoyed spending time in. It was really conveniently located, close to the night market, so we walked around at night, which was cool enough for enjoying the market on the street.

Very good hotel for the price. Room is nice and clean and has everything you need. The staff there are super helpful with all questions from directions to tours and getting taxis. I went on a tour organised by the hotel to key places outside of Dunhuang like yumen pass and ghost city. The tour is good value and a must do. I would recommend to everyone for a trip to Dunhuang
