The location was great. We wanted to do a hike in Switzerland and hear the cowbells. The trail up Moleson starts at the hotel parking lot and had plenty of cows.
The common area / kitchen was suitable even for our large group (6 people). During a busier season when all of the rooms are booked it might be too busy though.
Hôtel du Cheval Blanc - City center offers comfortable accommodation with free WiFi in the center of the town.

Check in was fast and very gentle/ friendly. The hotel is new and well located on the second floor of a shopping (pharmacy, a small market, cheese and wine store, etc); room was very clean and well decorated, shower is excellent. Breakfast buffet was very good and tasty (salmon, cheese, etc). I chose The Hotel D because of the garage and the proximity to Gruyeres but the experience overall was very good! The train station is beside but you can not hear anything from there, zero noise. The Bulle center is very close and cute with little restaurants (it is not necessary to use a car).
Just off the A12 motorway in Vaulruz, Hôtel - Restaurant Le Manoir is 6 km from Bulle and 11 km from Gruyères. Free WiFi and free private parking are available.

Absolutely a fabulous stay!!! Located in an out-of-the way little town, this charming place was a great find. The owner/proprietor/manager was so very nice, friendly, accommodating, and helpful. The room is typical for what we have discovered in Europe - fairly small with no air conditioning. Shower had great water pressure and we opened the windows to let the night air in. During the heat of the summer it may be too hot without a/c but it was very comfortable during the time we were there. The restaurant attached to the facility served fantastic food at a very reasonable price. Definitely a wonderful stay!!!
We hiked to the peak. It pushed the limits of our 11 year old. Was just about perfect for our 14 and 16 year olds. We took plenty of breaks and round trip was like 6 or 7 hours.
Lots of cows with bells on. Excellent views from the top.
We hiked up counter clockwise along the loop. This put the rocky less pretty views on the first 1/2 of the hike. It was nice to have the more scenic views on the way down while we were tired.
We should have started right in the morning as there was full sun exposure for almost the whole hike. Also, if it had rained or something there wouldn't have been much good cover.
