Vindonissa, modern day Windisch, right next to Brugg, was home to a Roman legion. There is extensive information about the Roman presence in the Vindonissa Museum, highly recommended. A shrot walk from the station is the Legionary Trail, a park with lots of fun things to do, for kids of all ages.
Brugg's old medieval town is small but also very accessible. Brugg is at a point where two important Swiss rivers join Switzerland's biggest, the Aare, and there are extensive walking trails along the rivers.
I ate dinner at the Rote Haus Restaurant, very good food. And at the Ignis Restaurant at the Hotel Centurion Tower, 5 minutes from the train station.
Everything is accessible on foot.
