We were staying in the small chalet behind the building. It had excellent facilities if you wished to self cater - hob, microwave, toaster etc. It had two bedrooms including one with a single bed and bunk beds; all very comfortable. The electric heaters worked well when needed. Breakfast was provided in the main building and was varied and good value.

At the reception the conversation was only in French. The cottage does not have potable water, water has to be collected from reception in water jar.
A recently renovated property, Pavillon de jardin Neuf Baie de Tadoussac Clim Parking - 2 chambres is set in Tadoussac near Tadoussac Chapel, Marine Mammal Interpretation Centre and Pointe de L'Islet....
Beautiful scenery. Parking is much too expensive, but the town is small enough to walk everywhere. The whales didn't show up. For a tourist town, too many signs are French only with no English translations!

I think you really only need one night in Tadoussac, unless you really want to spend a lot of time touring around the small town. We spent two nights, out of a ten day road trip from Montreal to Saguenay, and while it was definitely one of the most beautiful spots, it was also by the far the most expensive.
Had I known what I know now, I would have stayed in Les Escoumins, which is only 20 minutes from Tadoussac (and also really cute but less touristy), camped nearby, or stayed only one night.
A lot of the restaurants are overpriced and not very good. We had a hard time deciding on where to eat breakfast and lunch especially - not a lot of good cheaper options. A couple of cute coffee shops but I was disappointed by the coffee.
I recommend the microbrewery for their beer and poutine, Chez Mathilde for their tasting menu (expensive but so worth it), Cafe Boheme (pricy but delicious - try the seafood risotto) and walking along the waterfront.
We booked a zodiac whale watching tour with Vacances Essipit in Les Bergeronnes, about 20 minutes from Tadoussac, which was really nice and more affordable than AML tours - also it's Indigenous-run, which we were happy to support. We saw a humpback whale and some seals. Was a bit cold (wear lots of layers!) but really fun.
We also went to Cap des Bons Desirs and the Marine Environment Discovery Center (we preferred Cap des Bons Desirs, and saw some porpoises and a fin whale there).

The access to the St.
The access to the St. Lawrence River and the whales and seals that inhabit it. The boat ride to spot whales was a little too wet for me…soaking to be precise. However, it did provide some lovely whale sightings. The personnel were helpful and informative, but were sometimes too under time pressure…how do you provide detailed explanations in two languages and keep the material engaging as well as relevant and informative? Good job though!

Lovely little town with plenty of opportunities for whale watching, both from shore and on guided boat trips. Very picturesque harbour area, excellent whale museum (well worth a visit), and great restaurants and cafes. We stayed for 3 nights and saw plenty.

The people were very friendly, food was excellent (we only ate at cafe Boem though)
you can't park anywhere without paying and it is not cheap at $CAD 5 / hour,
overall we had a great time as it is a nice little town in middle of nowhere - was brilliant for us and nice change from big cities.

We only spent one night in Tadoussac, and that was definitely too short. The town lies on the confluence of the Saguenay fjord with the great St. Lawrence river. There is a quality of light to the place. Walk along the beach, then take a walk around the Pointe d'Islet (in both directions). If you are lucky you might see whales (we were unlucky). Definitely visit the whale museum which houses whale skeletons. It sounds a bit morbid but in fact the exhibit is modern and very good. The staff, who are also researchers, are very enthusiastic and bring their subject to life. Plenty of restaurants. Next time we will stay longer and chill.
Ella and her son were wonderful hosts. Ella bent over backwards to show us things on the map, help with some food, point out good restaurants (we tried Cafe Boheme and it was excellent) and allowed us to park longer than we should have. In every way, she went above and beyond. Thank you, Ella!
Very clean, gret location in walking distance to everything in Tadoussac and right across a very nice bakery to get breakfast. Overall quiet, did not hear any neighbours or disturbing traffic noise. Painfree check-in and check-out.
