The hotel was Diappointinf as it was under renovation and nothing open, still charged full price. Nothing said about renovations or wouldn’t”t stayed. I would think twice about using bookings.com in further if info not updated.

There's lots of malls in Edmonton and it has one of the lowest tax rates in Canada. You can find almost anything here. Weather in spring, summer and fall is alot better than I thought. Dry and warm and the daylight time is long. A trip of about 4 days is perfect. It's also just a 3 hours drive from Calgary and 4 hours to Banff. Close enough to add a few days to your trip and visit either city. I also fine that there's a fun number of social clubs and social activities. One just needs to look for this before going so that you know which days of the week people meet.

Be careful of what areas you go to.
Be careful of what areas you go to. Some are rougher than others. Lots of fun sites and attractions, but know your route and keep your guard up. Most of the walking trails we have done have been exciting, but again, during the day.

I showed up for my reservation, waited in queue and my turn to checkin came, the front desk woman asked if "I WAS DELIVERY GUY (OR DELIVERING SOMETHING)" basically, she did not think a black man was here to stay in hotel, VERY RACIST !
after booking and confirming my booking (booking.com) and calling hotel to confirm reservation. The hotel refused to accept Visa debit payment, at 10:30 PM, I had to call around and find another place to stay. Already my experience was worse enough even if they did accept my reservation I wouldn't have stayed.

Edmonton is a great city!
Edmonton is a great city! Super affordable with lots of things to do, but you have to plan the time that you come to catch the right events.
People are friendly here, you just have to be aware of yourself as you travel as there are some homeless people downtown - they don't bother you, but its just means you should stay on main streets and you'll be fine.
Location is great. Family had appointments at the Miscercordia and it was literally 5 min drive to get them there. I then walked around West Edmonton Mall until they were done. I had a King room and it was very spacious and clean. My room was facing an empty lot so it was very quiet. A HUGE BONUS: Walk right across from the hotel into the Bourbon Street entrance where there are many restaurants. That was soooo nice as my family member could only walk short distances. Would stay again!
Location: close to places we wanted to go to, Avis/Budget car rental is around the corner.
Hotel: Rooms are clean and nice, beds are comfortable, in suite coffee is very good,
Amenities: the breakfast (included) was very good and a great way to start the day. It had been a few years since we had to stay in downtown Edmonton. The last time, we had stayed at The Matrix and loved it. This visit did not disappoint! We would definitely stay there again!
I would like to thank all staff there with their management as they let us to feel comfortable and planning to come back there.Actually,it's quiet and safe area and it's between West Edmonton Mall and North gate which has many Malls. In addition, they have restaurant down provides all meals. Also all receptionists there will give you all information about the city to enjoy during your stay.I wish them luck
The Hotel MacDonald is an iconic hotel and we really enjoyed our stay! The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed the pool and spa facilities. The food at the restaurant was very good, although quite expensive. The patio area by the restaurant was also very nice for taking photos, going for a stroll, or viewing the downtown Edmonton skyline and the river. The water pressure was extreme in the shower!
Hotel was clean and updated. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room had a nice view of downtown and was spacious and comfortable for the two of us. The location is perfect if you're attending anything at Rogers Place. We couldn't find any vending machines that actually worked on any of the floors, and parking is a little tight, but other than that great place to stay.
I was surprised to find a large fridge, cook top, dishwasher, microwave, sink, table seating. If I was staying longer this would be great to eat meals in the hotel. Walmart/Costco is close if you needed to pick up groceries. We enjoyed a short drive to West Edmonton Mall on our trip.
We loved how close it was to a main bus ride down to West Edmonton Mall. It only took 5 min by bus. The pool was a great size for kids to play and they enjoyed the relaxed vibe of the property. Great price for all that you get: breakfast, pool, close to a lot of stores, food.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. I was at the south end of Edmonton and the hotel was close to highway to go into Edmonton and to leave to go home after my stay. Only 5 minutes from stores and restaurants.
Location to West Edmonton Mall.
Staff where friendly and helpful
Plenty of power points and USB points for charging devices.
The hotel offers discounts to the water park and amusement park.
Great location in downtown Edmonton beside the city center mall. Easy access to ice district
My room was huge and the bed was comfortable. Great views from the higher floors.
