Clarenville is a great base for travel down the Bonavista Peninsula. Lovely historical towns down that way. Trinity and Bonavista in particular have a number of historical sites. Rising Tide produces local plays at their theatre in Trinity every summer. The area also has a number of hiking trails.

We wanted to go to Random Island, couldn’t find a sign.
We wanted to go to Random Island, couldn’t find a sign. Got directions. Would be nice to have a sign at Shoal Bay Rd. Entrance.
Lovely place, Clarenville, everything you could want in one place. Great service.
Nice view of the river; large, exceptionally clean and new facilities; large, clean common kitchen with all utensils and appliances (good place to talk with other travelers)--very useful given the paucity of quality eating establishments in town; inexpensive washer and dryer ($1.25 CAD); across the street from the only non-fast-food restaurant in town and near a pond with hiking trail; management very responsive via email and easy to reach by phone; good location as jump-off point to Bonavista peninsula and Terra Nova National Park
Stanley House is a basic, no frills rooming house except for the kitchen. The kitchen was the model that all such places should have. My husband and I do all our own cooking on the road and having a fully stocked kitchen with comfortable dining space raised the Stanley House above all other basic hotels where we have ever stayed.
I liked the location in Clarenville. convenient to the highway for travelling purposes and close to grocery stores and attractions such as Trinity. you do need a car. We also liked that it had a common kitchen area as well as laundry that one could use. the staff were really nice. funny and personable.
A basic but very good hotel. Everything was as it should be. Spacious, clean, comfortable room. Good size vanity in the bathroom, lots of room to put your stuff. Decent food (we had breakfast in the restaurant and room service for dinner). Very friendly staff. I would stay here again.
it is a great place to stay while visiting Clarenville or passing through as I was doing. No problem with the check-in, the room was clean and the bed was comfy, quiet area. Will stay again if travelling that way and would recommend to family and friends.
This family run hotel was located along the main highway but still quiet and comfortable. The receptionists were efficient, friendly and informative. The choices for breakfast, which was included, were enough to get you on the road in the morning.
The former St.Jude’s Hotel has had a major facelift, and is now our favourite place to stay in Clarenville. The room was exceptionally quiet and immaculately clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was very good.
The hotel is extremely convenient and well-appointed, with a most welcoming and accommodating staff. The dining room is excellent. The rooms are quiet and very comfortable. All furniture and fixtures are new and of a high quality.
I found the staff over & above very friendly & was there to help despite the fact the Hotel was a beehive of activity!
Very different from an hotel I stayed at approx 2 months ago--No comparison!
Nice place for a quick stop, though Clarenville isn't really a tourist spot. Easy to find when you turn off the TCH. Clean, safe and comfortable.
Great kitchen with everything you need.
Hotel was clean modern and organized. The breakfast included was great and offered a couple of choices. We ate in the restaurant and the food and service was great.
The location was awesome. Very quiet area! Love watching the ducks outside the hotel. My favourite thing was that we can bring our own food and cook just like home.
Hotel and room are great. Clean, modern and comfortable. We did not go to the restaurant, but it was very busy. Outdoor hot tub was several weeks from opening.
