Bears Den Guest House, hotel in Churchill

Bears Den Guest House provides rooms in Churchill. This guest house offers free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi.

It felt like home and we were made to be very welcome straight away, including being able to use the washing machine and left over food from the cupboards! The location was in the centre of town and very close to the beach, for whale spotting. We were lucky enough to have the guest house to ourselves but even sharing it with other guests would have been great. Excellent value for money when staying in Churchill.

Beluga Beach House, hotel in Churchill

Beluga Beach House is offering accommodation in Churchill. Private parking is available on site at this recently renovated property.

The kitchen was well equipped and allowed us to make meals everyday. This house is near the store and it was easy to bring back the food. The bathrooms were very clean and comfortable, loved the shower with the bench which allowed us to seat during the shower when needed. Also, the beds were very comfortable and sheets were soft. Plenty of room to put our clothes away. Walking distance to beach and all attractions.

There are a lot of options for tours but I have to say the one we picked: Sub Artic Tour - for a full day was worth the price. We got picked up at the house we rented, had a van for us only (we were a 4 persons group). The guide, being a local, showed us a lot of areas, answered all our questions and agreed to return to some spots we really liked. His explanation's were great and full of history of the region and we could discussed the local cultures and customs. As outsiders it was great to learn so much. When we arrived, the train was early and we had no place to go. We met someone from the hospital and found out that the cafeteria at the hospital was open early and let us have a great breakfast (they have hot and cold options) for a reasonable price. It is easy to go for walk around town ... you just have to make sure to be back to your accommodations by 10pm curfew due to the polar bears. We you come in the fall season like us, make sure to bring multiple layers of clothing. We did and appreciated being able to add or remove layers when needed. When we left on the last day, we had super at the Reef Coffee Shop (at the Churchill Seaport Hotel). The choices of food was great and the prices were reasonable.. the food was excellent and the Sweet Potatoes fries were the best I had in a long time. The bison burger was also really good. Would recommend this place without hesitation.

If you're coming to Churchill in October it's almost certain you're coming to see polar bears. If you're arranging your own trip you won't do better than staying at the Iceberg Inn. It's small, clean, convenient and Angela & Bill are excellent hosts with fantastic local knowledge and contacts. A brilliant trip - saw the bears and much more and had a really enjoyable stay. Can't recommend this place & host enough!

Polar bear sightings and beluga whales. Unfortunately the Northern Lights didn't play ball on the 2 nights I was there. Very expensive for food and very limited grocery stores. There is a community centre with a swimming pool and a great little free museum.

You really have to consider signing up for tours as walking around or driving is not a practical option. There are bear patrols in town but you are strongly advised not to venture out of town on your own or go out after 10 PM. All the tours we took were eco-friendly and well-organized. Lazy Bear lodge has a very comfortable, though pricy restaurant/cafe.

For anyone who is interested in nature and wildlife or simply curious about life in this isolated arctic town, it’s worth the long, slow journey to visit Churchill at least once in your lifetime; particularly if one is a Manitoban or even other Canadians for that matter. We had the good fortune to see three wonders of nature (polar bears, beluga whales & northern lights) as well as getting to know the friendly locals, and learning first hand about the tremendous history of the town in one visit.

Churchill Manitoba has been on our list for a few years and...

Churchill Manitoba has been on our list for a few years and is a magical place to visit and encounter. The vast tundra surrounding this quaint town huddled up to the great Hudson Bay. Polar Bears were fantastic with multiple sightings over the week we visited. Thanks to Beyond Boreal Expeditions for amazing opportunities to be up close to these fascinating creatures! To get around the town you can walk easily to a variety of restaurants and there is enough variety to keep you happy. Be aware that during Bear Season October and November, the large Bear Viewing Companies take precedent over the times the restaurants are serving and food can take a bit longer to receive once ordered. Not only can you see Polar Bears in the wild during their migration to the northern ice, there is so much history, with The Prince of Wales Fort and Cape Merry Battery, the former Churchill Army Base and Missile Launch Facility, Miss Piggy Plane Wreck All which you need to take part in. We especially found the Churchill Northern Studies Centre very interesting. This is truly an Outstanding Destination to Visit!!

Everything was just amazing. Taylor is great host, very attentive and will answer any of your questions. He picked us up and dropped us from/ to train station. Nice clean and comfy room. Breakfast and hot coffee every morning. We even rented a car from him twice and drove around the town. Definitely highly recommended place to stay in Churchill. P.S. Don't miss Taylor and Sarah's food track. Food they prepare in it is beyond delicious .

In a big city this would perhaps be a fairly basic hotel but in a remote place like Churchill it is good. Clean, comfortable and warm. Best of all the owner Bill and has assistant Bram went out of their way to be friendly and helpful and made it a most enjoyable stay.
