Great location, clean comfortable rooms and beautiful separate cottages to stay in. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful - even though my our naughty toddler was running in their feet all the time. Food is simple but delicious.

This is a truly rugged nature hut, makes you feel like you're out of time...
Everything is very simple - looks almost crumbling but holds well in the summer rainstorms :)
Hosts don't speak English but are very accomodating, and the Bulgarian bean soup is delicious.
If you are in an "into the the wild" adventure with not much expectations for fancy conditions, this is the place for you.
And the fact you can have a private double room and not a dorms bed is a great bonus.

The property is getting a little tired and needs some maintenance, however it’s great value for money. We had a room at the front of the hotel and it was very quiet. When we arrived they weren’t any staff, we found our key and room number at the front desk. Parking was right out the front no issues. Short walk into town for a meal. Breakfast was excellent with a number of home cook dishes and fantastic jams.

It is a magical remote location situated in an amazing forest.Clean, fresh air and beautiful forest of tall pine trees.
Very well maintained and cute surroundings. It is not exactly a village but a remote location with few mountain hotels .Perfect for hiking to the Seven Rilla Lakes or other less difficult hikes.You need a car for sure but there are also buses from Sofia passing through.The lift is far for a walking distance .It is around 6.5 km from there.

Very friendly and helpful staff, great car parking, comfortable bed, good wifi, nice swimming pool (a little on the small side). Very good breakfast with a good choice of different options.
On the down side, no lift, no air-conditioning and a little deceptive to mention that the Rila Monastery was about 16km away...not CLEARLY mentioning that this is in a straight line. It is a one and a half hour drive..... 😔

Skakavica hut has a marevelous location. The path marking on the way needs imorovenent. The hut has started renovating the building, but has still a long way to go. The rooms and corridors are very old style. The service and guardians are nice though.

We used the hotel as a stopping off point between the Rila Monastery and Sofia Airport so we weren't there for very long. Beware as the hotel comes up as being close to the monastery which it is as the crow flies but there is a mountain range in between! It is 70 miles away by road and is up a mountain road covered in snow and ice so not for the nervous driver in winter. However we enjoyed our stay very much as the hotel was quirky and we will remember it and possibly stay again if we do some trekking in the Rila Mountains.
Hospitality and service were above any our expectations ❤️ Atmosphere, location and tasty food completed our impressions. Amazing place for rest and relax. I felt like gone here. Also hotel is located in a he forest and it takes only 3 minutes to dive into wilderness, which is especially valuable for megapolis-people like us. My best recommendations to this place
