It's absolutely beautiful! The Old Bridge (which was rebuilt after the war) is a favourite tourist attraction so the area was quite busy. There are loads of restaurants, gift shops and bars. Try Craft Beer Garden for local ales with a terrace next to the river. Our favourite restaurant was called Malo Misto - superb food, lovely atmosphere, great prices, just outside the central area.
Be aware that there are no shops open on Sundays, and hardly any taxis. We drove our rental car into the centre on Sunday and found free parking and plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Mostar is very pretty, famously so.
Mostar is very pretty, famously so. The Old Town is small, and the new town has nothing to offer tourists, so do stay in the Old Town as close to the Bridge as possible. During the day there are hordes of day trippers, but at night it is much quieter and very lovely, so staying the night is essential; I stayed two nights which was just fine. It is very picturesque but that is it - there are no headline museums etc. Lots of touristy places to eat, all much of a muchness. As with the rest of BiH, very reasonably priced. Great ice cream! If you are interested in the civil war, there are many signs in the new town and on the edge of the old town of the conflict. In addition, the old bridge is of course a reconstruction as is most of the old town.

Super cozy town to wander through.
Super cozy town to wander through. Nice little shops with handmade products, many restaurants and café with cheap food and drink.
Just avoid the cafee under the bridge called Eko co. Worst service and bad coffee - not autenthic Bosnian. Super expensive.

Mostar is a captivating city that embodies a unique blend of historical gravitas and scenic charm, making it a must-visit destination in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nestled along the picturesque Neretva River, the city is famed for its iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), a stunning example of Islamic architecture in the Balkans and a UNESCO World Heritage site. This historic bridge, beautifully reconstructed after the war, provides a symbolic connection between the city's diverse cultural and religious communities.
Visitors can explore the cobbled streets of the Old Bazaar, where traditional craft shops and quaint cafes offer a taste of local life and hospitality. The Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque is another highlight, offering panoramic views of the city from its minaret. Also FORTICA is the best place to see Mostar from the hill, highly recommend take taxi 1km per Kilometre… ask driver for pick up later or walk down.
Mostar also serves as a gateway to explore the region's natural beauty. Nearby attractions include the emerald waters of the Kravica Waterfall and the serene Blagaj Tekija, a Dervish monastery nestled against a cliff beside the Buna River, which is perfect for a peaceful afternoon outing and Pocitelj ahistorical place!
With its rich history, stunning architecture, and warm, welcoming atmosphere, Mostar is truly a jewel worth exploring. Each corner of the city offers new delights and a chance to step back in time while enjoying the vibrant local culture.
Best place to eat and value for money:
- Cernica chevabdzinca, (a hidden gem) mix grill platter 40km in Cernica street, also Rodjeni Pie shop.
- Best Pizza (cappricioza my fav) in Nidze Veze in Boulevar opposite the Catholic church.
- Asdzinica Saraj by the Karadzozbeg Mosque, best to eat early between 10-12am, best traditional food reasonable prices
Malta - outside Mostar on the way to Blagaj fabulous food reasonable priced

Even in spring, the famous bridge attracts an awful lot of tourists in the day and early evening, so do bear this in mind and be patient. However it is definitely worth seeing (best from the river) and if the weather is good do wait for the locals jumping off the bridge - this takes place about every 30-minutes. If you're on the bridge the divers may ask if can make a contribution. don't overlook the rest of the town and you can still see traces of the civil war if you walk further out. Sadly, someone removed the Bruce Lee statue, only the pedestal remains. Highly recommend train journey between Mostar and Sarajevo.
The property was close to the old city. It is easily accessible by car as it is just a short distance from the main road into Mostar.
It is beautifully designed and decorated with plenty of windows and a balcony overlooking the city.
The kitchen is very well equipped. The bathroom is large, well ventilated (with window) and fantastic water pressure.
The owners are extremely attentive to your needs and super hospitable. They made us Bosnian coffee when we arrived and gave us a large bowl of beautiful cherries.
This is a modern comfortable family run hotel with a great breakfast included. From the front facing rooms, there is a good view over the valley that contains modern Mostar. The Aircon worked really well in humid weather and the WiFi was usable if a bit flaky. The briefing notes provided for guests about surrounding attractions were brilliant, leading me to a superb dinner by the source of the river Buna at Blagaj and more. The Rivero takes Euros in cash, however you need Bosnian KM in most places.
Oh my God, where do I begin? Simply the best hotel experience I have ever had. The owners take the cake. They are like new friends right away. We sat drinking really really good coffee talking about life and their adventures in Italy. The lovely owners, Omer and his wife have a heart of gold. Soo kind and fun to talk to. The rooms are ultra clean and modern. The pool is sooo nice and relaxing. I highly recommend this beautiful hotel is you are in the area. Super close to all the action in Mostar.
We had a blast in Villa Cesar! Host is extremely helpful we have amazing time in that place.
The pool was excellent we spent most of the time outside enjoying our time in Bosnia & Hercegovina.
Clean - very clean, it is obvious that this home was build good some time back - still they are taking good care of the place and we have excellent time there.
Note: this is excellent place to have some fun taking a brake from driving long distance or visiting Mostar attractions.
The location is in the heart of Old Town. We appreciate the staff to let us check in much earlier as the room is prepared and we love how big is the suite! We need to thanks the front staff, Elma for providing us all the info, arrange our private for tour around Mostar and the breakfast is amazing as well.
Recommended if you’re coming to Mostar, bonus there is rooftop lounge on the top if the hotel. Great view of Old Town especially at night time.
Coffee and juice greeted us in the apartment. The apartment is very large, the furniture is brand new and super clean. The lady who received us in the accommodation is very kind
and gave us many tips for our trip in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We got promo flyers for a restaurant in the old town where we got a welcome drink and dessert for free. We also had free parking. The apartment is only 10 minutes from the city. We will definitely come again.
Perfect location: one step away from the well known bridge and old town. Despite the very central location the room was very quiet. Room was very spacious and very well cooled by the AC. Best thing however; the staff! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Food was excellent, best service we had during our stay in Croatia/ Bosnia! Highly recommended, we would definitely book again if we visit Mostar in the future
The property was ideally located on the edge of the old town yet remained secluded and peaceful. Our room was spacious with an excellent view. breakfast was very good. We were particularly impressed by the duty manager who was extremely helpful, even securing us a booking at our next destination when we thought the hotel was fully booked.
5 mins walk from bus station and 20 mins walk into old town.
Host Lena was fabulous, made Bosnian coffee for us each morning and even offered to do our laundry. Property has fully equipped kitchen, bakery and bars opposite and supermarket a short walk away.
Excellent base for exploring Mostar, would recommend for a short stay.
Excellent location walking distance from old town, clean apartment with all facilities needed. The owners have superb attitude towards guests. They do everything to make your stay at Mostar special. we really like the people and the culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Highly recommended to everyone to visit here.
We loved our stay at City Center. Everything was perfect. The host was so friendly and helpful. It looks even better in real life than in the photos and we loved relaxing on the terrace and enjoying the glorious Bosnian scenery.
Excellent location in Old Town Mostar, able to walk everywhere.
We were greeted by the Proprietor who was most helpful throughout our stay. He took time to help us resolve a problem with our Bosnian cellphone SIM.
the host!! he's a former guide so he spent 30min went thru the map and what we should do in Mostar. He's very nice and accommodating and chill.
The hotel has free parking. it's very close to the main things.
Really nice place, a good location, Mostar old bridge is approximately 10 minutes walk. The room was clean, and the hosts were really nice.
If I visit again, I will definitely book the room at this hotel
I didn’t expect much when we booked the hotel, probably being the only British tourists in Bosnia. The Hotel was grand for the city and very close to the bridge which we wanted to visit
Hotel was very clean, and easily accessible from car park and shopping centre. The room was finished to a high standard, very spacious and good views of surrounding Mostar.
Location is amazing! Owners provided us a parking spot which was great.
The place was very clean and comfortable. Definitely booking again if I go to Mostar
