If you prefer an all inclusive resort type experience, this is NOT for you. If you like to be away from the hustle and bustle of Eagle Beach or Palm Beach type locations, this is for you. This family-run hotel sits at the quiet part of the island (in Seveneta; near Zeerover - the famous restaurant and Flying Fish, almost as famous and way more expensive) and close to our favorite beach - Baby Beach, and one of the entrances to the Arikok National Park (Baby Beach entrance - you get the caves first).
This is a family run business and we were treated like a family by each and every staff member who were all family members and run the hotel. Very personalized service. Everyone was super nice. Reno and Chef Elise were the two people - Reno is Chef's nephew - we were in touch daily; Reno is great! Don't forget to have him take around in a little boat and to the Glass Island which is across the property! Chef made bf everyday and we (and other guests) ate facing the beautiful ocean and sea breeze. My wife and I had a special dinner one of the nights - just for us - and chef made it very special, including his surprises - very memorable. There's a local tree almost touching the water towards the villa side - my wife and I would lie down there after dinner and enjoy our drinks in the cool breeze of the night - very nice!
We borrowed cooler (for Balachi, Chill, and Bright!), beach chairs, and snorkeling googles from Reno - no charge - thanks, Reno! Kayak's were there for use for free too (we didn't).
We plan to go back to Aruba - nice place - and stay in Serene by the Sea again - this time in the big family unit!

I like that it wasn’t in the touristy area up north.
I liked the plants and that there was AC.

Very friendly & welcoming people from owner & manager to other guests. Nothing was too much trouble eg supplying a brighter light bulb in a lamp for reading. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the whole place is quirky & feels tropical.

The apartement in Savaneta was great for privacy and relaxation. When you want to get to the busy tourist areas and beaches it is not difficult. Tip: buy some day bus passes at the Oranjestadt Arubus terminal. They are 10USD for each pass for the whole day. Zee Rovers restaurant is great for fresh catch of the day fish and or shrimp. Nice place to eat and hang out right at the waterfront. Sushi factory also good in Savaneta, likewise House of Cakes.
Car rentals are a little pricey for a single person. However the Arubus takes you almost all places along the Aruba main road. I think bicycling would be a little dangerous with lots of cars zipping by.

Savaneta is great because it's away from the hotel area...
Savaneta is great because it's away from the hotel area where most tourists go. It's only about 20 minutes from Baby and Rogers Beach and has a wide variety of restaurants. I'll always stay at this end of the island!
This hotel is a prime example that the class of a hotel is not the stars, marbles, mirrors or pools, but the people. Graciela and Victor are the backbone of this hotel and that you will feel as if you are going to your closest family. In this mega expensive island they will help you not to waste unnecessary money. Graciela your empanadas are the best in the world. Dear hotel owner I don't know how much you pay them but they deserve better.
The location was beautiful on the southern side of the island along a channel created by Sea Glass Island so there was an abundance of marine life to explore snorkeling foot steps from the shore. The property provided peaceful relaxation in cabanas, hammocks, couches and an open-air restaurant to enjoy breakfast each morning through the beautiful sunsets in the evening. Serene by the Sea in Savaneta lives up to it's name!
Very nice hotel! Fantastic location just next to the water and beach! Great water for kayaking and snorkeling. Beautiful sunsets! The family that owned the hotel was fantastic! Welcoming, friendly and looking after you - so that you had a good stay! The chef that made fantastic omelettes for breakfast. Nice restaurants next to the hotel; Flying Fishbone and Zeerover!
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay! We´ll be back!
Great location, away from all the resorts. Close by to lots of good local restaurants! Right on the water, which was perfect for snorkeling, swimming, kayaking. Very friendly family running the hotel. The chef cooked us excellent meals upon request looking over the sunset. We had a great time there and will definitely go back!
The location was great for going to Baby beach, Zeerover (walking distance) and Arikok. The staff responded quickly and were very pleasant. We went to the Sushi Factory which is down the road, they had some good sushi, a must do when in Savaneta. There was sufficient space to park our rental car too.
It was quiet, clean, and very beautiful. not luxurious or pretentious but just the right amount of pretty and comfortable. It was perfect for our tastes. We also liked that it was located far from the busy hotel area, it was much less touristy. Breakfast was delicious.
Perfect location for your relaxing caribbean vacation away from the crowded High Rise hotels in the west. Breakfast with ocean view. The hosts are so hospitable and warmly. Direct access to the ocean where you can swim, snorkel, go kayaking or just enjoy the sun.
This spot is perfect for those who do not like big hotels, resorts, or anywhere busy. It is comfortable, welcoming and clean. We got to know some of the other people staying there as well, which was a bonus and a joy.
What a nice little getaway far from the noise and heavy traffic. Perfect little quaint, no-frills, down-to-earth environment. Don't choose this place if you're looking for a big hotel/amenity feel.
The hotel was perfect; the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and advised me about the island the whole time.
