Being local and having dined at Prospect Country House on two previous occasions, we were well aware of the high calibre cuisine and service on offer. As in-house guests, we were treated to a whole new level of excellence. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The bathroom was cleverly laid out. Toilet and shower were both complete with doors (we love shower doors so water doesn't flood the bathroom and drafts are kept out!), there was under floor heating and, unusually these days, plenty of towels on offer. Dinner was as outstanding as our previous meals and the Continental breakfast was also a treat with Chef Kalpana's house-made granola, yoghurt and stone fruit compote being the stand-outs for us! David looked after us beautifully on arrival and during dinner and Kylie was a lovely, bright presence at breakfast and on check out. If you want country beauty without being isolated, a wonderful blend of traditional Georgian style and contemporary comfort, fine dining without the pretention, a top notch wine list (the property is owned by Pooley Wines), warm, friendly hospitality and an opportunity to really feel spoiled, you really can't go wrong at Prospect Country House!
Foreshore Hotel is situated in Lauderdale, on Hobart's picturesque Eastern Shore. It is within 20 minutes' drive of both Hobart Airport and Hobart CBD (Central Business District).

The rooms were extremely quiet and spacious. The bed was really vomfortable. I am fussy with pillows and their pillows were the best pillows I have ever slept on - would love to know where they got them from as I would buy some myself! The meal at the hotel was tasty. Very friendly staff and a lovely location.

I stayed here as I was on a 2 day trip seeing & photographing Tasmanian Water Tank Art & had an early morning flight to catch. My last photo stop was at nearby Dodges Ferry, close to Sorell. My accomodation was near the town & I left early to get Macca's , in town for breakfast, & make it to the airport on time & return my rental car. I have been to the area a few times before & it is a great tourist area which should not be missed for first time tourists as it is also on the way to Port Arthur. The East Coast also has magnificent sights & scenery, & I drove down the steep & windy, but beautiful scenery of Elephant Pass - be careful if you drive it.

If you are looking for Tasmanian history, Sorell is a great place to start.
Its easy to get around through the former horse and cart roads. Great spots to visit include the Sorrell Cafe for breakfast or lunch and Pembroke Hotel for dinner. The Chemist Warehouse is also handy if you forget your medication or tooth brush. I should have booked to stay another day!

Sorrell is a quiet town just north of the airport.
Sorrell is a quiet town just north of the airport. It was a perfect spot to stay in order to go back to the airport to collect our camper. The Barracks are a historical building with all of the charm of a bygone era. There are strawberry farms close by and shops close for purchasing food etc. We purchased a pizza for dinner and ate it in our room. We did not have a car on the night we stayed but managed to walk to where we needed to go.
