The place is haven on peace. The owner is a typical man of the mountains: he does not speak much, but shows great attention to his hosts, and advised me for walks
Scenic views of the Andean ranges can be enjoyed in the picturesque town of Iruya. There are bright areas with regional décor and all rooms have views of the garden or the hills.

Great location in town, staff very kind and the room met our expectations. The shower was nice and warm, and we were within walking distance of many places to eat. There is a nice balcony, which we unfortunately didn't really use since it was cold and windy during our stay.

The wife of the owner did a good job of keeping the facilities clean. She also met us at the bus station when we arrived at the town to take us to the property. She alone kept this property from receiving one star.

If you want to go hiking from a very basic town then it’s great. I guess. But if you want anything else out of the town forget it. Zero. 58 km of dirt road each direction is not remotely worth the view. There are amazing views all over Argentina, if the town even had one interesting aspect fine but it doesn’t. Most people we saw there were sitting waiting for the next bus out. Nothing to do if you don’t hike. Sorry IRUYA, the rest of Argentina is amazing, you’re very ordinary by comparison.

A magical place in Salta, from the moment you turn off the highway it is just breath taking. We traveled in a 4x4 ute and were able to stop several times to take photos on the way.
Iruya is a small town, perfect for people who love some adventure, enjoy peaceful nights, hiking and sightseeing. I will return as this is a place to stay more than just 1 night.

Iruya is a very old town, with amazing views.
Iruya is a very old town, with amazing views. It is not the prettiest as far as architecture goes, but the town is wonderful to explore by foot, it's a very unique place.
It's located in the middle of very high mountains and it takes a while to get there. Be ready for a challenging drive if you're not used to the Salta/Jujuy/Catamarca kind of winding roads. It is easily accessible during the winter months (may-october), I am told it is much harder during the summer rainy season.
Carry cash! There is a bank with an ATM but it is usually out of cash. There is no phone service on the road and little in Iruya, although there is WiFi available in hotels and restaurants.
Plan ahead if you want to climb the Nido del Cóndor trail, it takes a while, and it is made much harder by the high altitudes. Even walking a couple of blocks inside the town (most of it is uphill) can be challenging.
Absolutely stunning view from our room. Honestly was breathtaking. We could see mountain sheep doing their crazy leaping around on the other side of the canyon. It was amazing. Room was great, restaurant was great, reception was great. Nothing bad to say.
The walk up the hill back to the hotel (if you go into the town )can be quite tiring but take it slow and enjoy the beautiful setting:)
The host (Dora Gonzales) was so so lovely! She was super helpful with answering all questions and giving suggestions for what to do in Iruya and neighbouring towns. It was an incredibly enjoyable stay in a lovely village. The hostel is very cute, with clean rooms and wonderful views of the mountain. I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Iruya!
Would 100% recommend this place for your stay in Iruya. We had one of the rooms on top and it was amazing! The terrace is the best place to relax with a beautiful view on the mountains. The room was spacious with a big comfortable bed and the breakfast was delicious. The owner gave good recommendations! We hope to come back!
If you want to stay local this is a great place. Feels like staying in someone's home. The room was big, the shower was great with really hot water, it was clean and nice.
It is up a very steep hill, but on the other hand I think more or less any hostel in Iruya is.
I would definitely recommend staying here :)
Great location right in a scenic part of the pueblo. Room was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. Staff are helpful and give good recommendations for where to eat and what to do in and around Iruya. The view from the terrace over the mountain is beautiful, it’s very pleasant to sit up there.
El hostelito was a wonderful relaxed place to stay in the beautiful town of Iruya. Dora, the owner was extremely helpful and generally very friendly. My two nights easily turned into more — a great place to stay! Thanks for your hospitality, Dora!
It had great views over Iruya, situated right at the top. This did mean walking up and down pretty hilly terrain to the restaurants nearere to the centre if you did not drive.
Staff did try to be helpful despite not speaking English.
I enjoyed a lot El Hostelito and Iruya. Amazing place with breathtaking trails and nature. Thank you so much to Dora for being such a great host! Will be definitely coming back for the hikes to Nazareno and Laguna Verde :)
we liked a lot how they host us
they are super nice and they explain you everything when u arrive. in iruya this is very important since there is no such a lot of info about it.
they breakfast on the terrace is lovely
The views were wonderful, whether in room or verandah or dining area. Room very comfortable. Meals lovely. Staff friendly. Carparking available. Iruya is a pristine environment and I hope it stays that way.
Incredible views from the hotel, excellent dinner, even in the remote location that Iruya finds itself. The best option for a stay in Iruya and a very fair price overall.
