Two full days is plenty of time to explore Berat.
Two full days is plenty of time to explore Berat. The castle is worth a visit maybe a taxi up and walk down as its very steep. The two bridges are nice to walk over and the view at night is wonderful. A nice reasonable restaurant is Friendly House the restaurant is upstairs and looks out over the river.

Berat is definitely on of the cool city on my list. It will be great to hire a tour guide for the explanation and exploration around the old castle area.
Based on the local suggestion, every year, there is an event called epiphany on Jan 6. It will be super good if you can witness this wonderful event.

Was very underwhelmed by Berat.
Was very underwhelmed by Berat. One big building site and litter everywhere. View is alright but nothing special. Not much to do. Very quiet in March but traffic already tough so wouldn’t want to be there in summer.
Only playground in the village was extremely dirty and many things were broken.

Beautiful view of the mountains, interesting castle, nice walks available. Very affordable. We ate at Pizza Visi and it was fresh and tasty (and very informal). We also took a great walking tour with Lazzaro.

Hotel Berati is incredible value for money, located very close to everything worth seeing in Berat. The interior is gorgeous with a traditional design and the rooms have that rustic traditional vibe while also being spotless. The rooms are spacious, and I had a large private balcony looking out toward the mosque and orthodox church. Breakfast was basic but varied with enough fuel to do a lot of walking around the city. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful whenever I had questions; her level of English was high.
Loved staying at Ana Rest house. The owners made it feel like a home rather than just a guest house!
The location was amazing- near a lot of the other hostels and the house itself was very cute. Rooms were very clean as well as the common area. I especially enjoyed the terrace with the beautiful view.
Hosts prepared a lovely breakfast in the morning and were always soo helpful with tips for Berat as well as teaching me some Albanian words.
Would always come back and can't recommend enough!
This was the best hotel experience I had in Albania! Conveniently located within the narrow hilltop streets of Mangalem, you are right in the beautiful historical district of Berat. Hani i Xheblatit has so much charme: old historical rooms beautifully decorated and the views of the terrace or the balcony are amazing!
My highlight: the breakfast! Plenty of food, made with a lot of love! Very delicious!
The staff was more than nice and tried to help even when there was a language barrier.
Great stay at this beautiful Hotel in the center of an old castle in the old part of Berat. Staff was extraordinary friendly, food is great, albanian specialities are definitely worth a try, great breakfast as well, it was freshly prepared, fresh pressed orange juice and fresh fruit as a dessert. Room is quiet and nicely decorated, AC is working fine, and we got a parking in front of the hotel, inside the old castle walls. What a great experience, highly recommended!
Lovely boutique hotel in Berat. The place is located in the middle of the picturesque old town, in a tastefully renovated old house. The rooms are very nice. The owner is very friendly and gives you a lot of tips on what to do in Berat and Albania. He also offered wine, jam, and raki to guests. The breakfast was very good and portions were large in case you are hungry. Overall, we had an amazing stay in Amalia Boutique hotel.
PROS
-situated at the entrance of the city, easy to find, away from the crowds, still close to everything
-hike to castle through the back to avoid entrance fee thanks to hotel staff
-extremely friendly family staff
-our best breakfast in Albania as they go for quality over quantity, it’s not a buffet
-free private parking at the back of the hotel, secure
-one of the two bridges of Berat is 10m away
-good A/C
Centre Hotel was perfect for my purpose: a short stay at Berat as part of a longer journey through Albania. It's close to the historical center and all the important sightseeing attractions, traditional and affordable places to eat, it's really on the border between the old town and the modern part of the city. A stay includes a light breakfast, which was appreciated. A great place to stay for this price.
New hotel, very nice furniture choices, quality linens & towels, extremely cozy & matched the feel of the town. Everything was new, but the choices kept the character of Albania & Berat. Great location between the two bridges, walked to local restaurants, and you can choose to drive up to the castle or get some exercise and walk. Very nice staff. Highly recommend.
A very friendly staff, a plenty of choices during breakfast. A fantastic value for money; It was nice to get a welcome drink (water) taking into account the heatwave at that time. The hotel you cannot miss in Berat; so easy to find! All the guests can use an indoor pool free of charge. We could also have a later check out without any problems.
White House Berat is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Berat. It’s clean, comfortable, quiet and the staff go above and beyond with their service. The breakfast was delicious and robust, providing many choices for all tastes. The hotel location is also perfect for anyone wanting to be centrally located in the charming old town.
We experienced top notch Albanian hospitality here. Freddie, Nina, Aryan and Mikhel were like family. The place and location are aweseome. The place is kind of inside the Berat Castle so the experience is mind blowing. There is car parking available very near to the house.
If you are a foreigner and you are wondering about where to stay in Berat. This is the place to be. This is coming from an Albanian. You will be impressed by the views, food, history and most importantly by the hospitality of the host. Wonderfull time. Highly recommend.
Nice guesthouse in the old city of Berat. Gorgeous terrace where you can have a drink, and where the large breakfast is served. Very helpfull staff.
We had diner at Mangalemi, right across from the small alley where the hotel is situated. Well recommended.
The hotel is located in a historic district of Berat with great views of the old town. The staff were very welcoming. We really appreciated getting a welcome coffee made for us! The room was beautiful and had a nice balcony looking over the courtyard.
Amazing hotel in the heart of old Gorica quarter in Berat. The hotel is on the hill and they serve an amazing breakfast (with some of the freshest products we tasted during our trip in Albania) in the top terrace overlooking the whole city.
A beautiful flat, right on the main street of the new part of Berat….but it’s walking distance to everything. This was the prettiest flat of our 9 days in Albania - we could live in a space like this. Highly recommended!
I loved the location in the midst of Berat and what a beautiful town it is! The Ansel hotel is in one of the old renovated buildings. It is authentic and the breakfast was the best I ever had in Albania and Montenegro.
Berat is an amazing place, and staff to Gorica hotel is exactly the meaning of hospitality. Free parking, beautiful room with Mangalemi view. Breakfast was tasty and local products. Thank you for everything
