Matlock
Oakhill is a beautiful Grade 2 Listed (Georgian style) house built by the Arkwright family in the mid 19th century, as a private family dwelling. The hotel is located in the stunning Derbyshire countryside, set in extensive landscaped gardens within the historic village of Cromford, in the UNESCO Derwent Valley World Heritage Site. The food was amazing. The staff were friendly.

The accommodation is very good, spotlessly clean, well appointed and with beautiful views of the Derbyshire landscape. The choice and quality of meals is excellent. The Dales, Matlock and Chatsworth House in easy driving distance making this a good location for exploring in the region.

The property features lovely greenery, as well its own cave and patio area. Interiors feature wooden beams, original fireplaces and embossed wallpaper. The spacious rooms have elegant design and come with free WiFi, heating and a private bathroom. Some rooms look onto the nearby River Derwent. Thel owner's Chris,Zoe and their staff have kept this hotel very quirky and welcoming,beautiful victorian decor. Really comfortable beds ( best sleep in a long time ) The breakfast is amazing with plenty of choice and very good menu for evening meals. Looking forward to our next visit 😀
Baslow
All rooms have a flat screen TV, fridge and tea and coffee facilities. Most rooms have an en suite shower, while 2 rooms share a luxury bathroom. There is an extra private bathroom including a bath available to all guests. Two of the rooms are pet-friendly. Quaint home close to Chatsworth if you plan to visit there. Hosts were so welcoming, wonderful traditional breakfast & cake in the evenings. Very clean and comfortable.

Very clean and modern, the interior design was really well done & all the little details made a huge difference. The outdoor fire & BBQ are a lovely additional also. Having a large dining table in 3 bedroom property aloud 10 of us to all eat together which was amazing. The host was lovely, and had great communication throughout the stay. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend - highly recommend.
The location was stunning and the amenities were excellent. Finished to a very high standard the Shepherds hut had everything you could possibly need for an enjoyable and relaxing stay. Everything had been thought of …it was like a boutique hotel room absolutely lovely

This place honestly is a hidden gem, you wouldn't realise from the outside how nice this place is! The decor is very modern and comfortable at the same time, the shower was lovely and the whole decor just screamed out luxury boutique hotel we absolutely loved it and the bonus was the hot tub as a couple this was really nice after a day of exploring the peaks it was the perfect way to just relax and soak. I would definitely come back here!

Beautiful converted barn with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break with gorgeous views, local walks and a hot tub to enjoy. Lovely homely feel and the lounge, dining and kitchen area being upstairs is a great design to appreciate and take in the view over the reservoir, rolling countryside and the alpacas enjoying themselves in front of the property. Just ideal. The alpaca experience we did one day also it was fabulous. Clare was so lovely and very knowledgeable.

This is a lovely hotel which is suffering an identity problem. The main issue here is that the price point is at 5 star level, whereas the hotel itself is really 4 star accommodation. The interior design is lovely and we enjoyed spending time in the communal areas of the hotel, the modern restaurant extension is impressive with tasty food offerings, and the grounds beautiful. There really is a lot to like here and Callow Hall has all the makings of a fabulous destination hotel, but it was let down on a few points as listed below.
The room was excellent in size and style and had been pre- warmed, on a very cold day, prior to our arrival. The interior design and fittings of the hotel, bars and restaurant generally is excellent, and well befitting the title of Boutique Hotel. Staff were interested in our questions, knowledgeable and gave great service. The restaurant food and breakfast were to a very high standard.
