Hotel Spalentor is located opposite the Botanic Gardens, a 5-minute walk from the Old Town of Basel and the University, and offers free bicycles, free WiFi, a fitness area and a quiet garden with a chestnut tree. We stayed in a Junior Suite; breakfast was excluded, but available at an extra cost. The location is great, diagonally opposite the Spalentor Gate entrance into Basel's Old Town, so it is easy to explore the area on foot. We were able to temporarily park our rental car in the dedicated space in front of the hotel to offload our luggage, and the hotel's underground parking garage (extra cost) is easy to drive to, only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed, good air conditioning, WiFi, a coffee machine, kettle, and a safe. The pillows were very soft, but the staff were more than happy to bring us more. The bathroom had everything we needed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Hotel D’s rooms were fully-renovated in February 2016 and are equipped with LED-backlit LCD TVs with laptop connections, as well as LED rain showers. They offer panoramic views over the Old Town and the Rhine River. Everything was fresh and modern. Good location. Staff was outstanding - made us dinner reservations and really helped me out when I lost my phone.

The Central City Hotel Rochat is housed in a historic, listed building in the old town of Basel. The accommodation enjoys a central and very quiet location close to the university and the cantonal hospital. The hotel has a small garden and free WLAN. Rooms are big and clean. Tourist card issued by the hotel was useful.

The family-run GAIA Hotel Basel can be found right across from Basel Main Train Station, only a 10-minute walk from the historic city centre. All rooms include a minibar which is refilled every second day and which can be used free of charge. Location, clean, wonderful staff (maintenance staff and front desk staff)who stop to chat, lovely breakfast, comfortable rooms. Maintenance staff extremely efficient, kind and chatty when we had issue with air conditioning unit.

Hotel Schweizerhof enjoys a preferred location in the centre of Basel, next to the SBB train station and is easily accessible by car and public transport. Local phone calls are free.

The Basel Exhibition Centre can be reached by tram within 10 minutes. we liked everything! All was the high level! Absolutely fantastic and incredible! The receptionist Alina gave a lot of help and useful information about most visited places and particularly nuances about the city!
