This hotel really exceeded my expectations! Old architecture blended with minimalist interior design, service, lovely staff and on top of that nightly access to the monastery. Me and my partner both felt when we left after one night that we need to come back, not only because of the surroundings but also to enjoy a dinner. This honestly needs to be experienced.

Located in the centre of Saumur, Le Patio & Spa is a guest house set in a renovated, 18th-century coaching inn. It is just 100 metres from Saumur Castle and 1 km from the vineyard. The spa area features a hot tub and an original stone fireplace.

I’m not exaggerating when I state that this jewel of a find was perfect for our stay of two nights. The room was nicely decorated in the style of days gone by, non of this industrialized rubbish accommodation that is far too often what you get for the price we paid. No sir, this was classy, comfortable, historical, with a nice view of the Loire, AND a wonderful and copieuse “petit déjeuner”…think brunch without greasy food. There was a telly, but I didn’t need it…same with WiFi…although, that was good to gather more info about what to see. As for the owners & staff…they were very kind and helpful, cheerful, and well…the Parrot! I’ve never seen one so close up…fascinating…you can sense it is an intelligent animal, and so beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Patio, it’s indoor court, lavish decorations and wonderful hosts. That’s a 10/10 from my point of view.

All of the rooms offer a satellite TV and views of the Loire River and of the chateau. Five of these rooms still have their original decor (Louis XVI, Restoration, Empire periods). Rooms with views of the river or castle are available upon request.

The room was very quiet and comfortable The bed was very comfortable The showers were a hit. They have a water saving system that really works, our girls were very eager to try to stay in the green zone. The staff was AMAZING. So helpful, so nice… The food was very good

Good location near Loire a Velo cycle path and in center of Saumur. Secure bicycle storage in bar area. Very courteous and helpful staff who gave us great restaurant recommendations.
