Picture an old, historical mansion left vacant for decades. The new owners spent 3 years carefully keeping the old "bones" but modernizing it for savvy, contemporary guests and adding a design aesthetic which is bold yet pleasing and comfortable. Add a beautiful pool and deck area, excellent meals, kind and service-oriented owners and staff, and you have an experience to remember.

In some units there is a dressing room for guests to change in. The Hospedaria is a lovely, quiet and peaceful place near to the great Algarve beaches and Tavira, but away from any crowd and mass tourism. We liked the spacious and stylish rooms - each of the five with its own terrace - and many hidden places to sit and relax in the house or the beautiful garden. The day starts with a great breakfast with fresh fruits, eggs, joghurt with granola, cake, toasted bread, cheese and fresh juice & coffee. Awesome is a Dinner for two at the old Fireplace or with the other guests at the long wooden table. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

You can engage in various activities, such as cycling, bird watching, nature trails, walking, and fishing. Lethes Theatre is 4.9 km from Herdade dos Salgados do Fialho, while Carmo Church & Bones Chapel is 4.9 km away. Faro Airport is 10.4 km from the property. We booked the cottage with an ocean view. It is remote in the sense that nothing is around it but marsh, water, animals, and other wildlife, but in the distance you can see the city of Faro. It is a great place to stay if you want to get away but not be far away. Very peaceful and beautiful with generous, communicative hosts. The cottage is unique--an old caretakers house that has been renovated with a tiny, serviceable kitchen and a shower room with an external entrance. Fabulous rooftop terrace and you have full use of the sparkling pool and social area closer to the main house. We really enjoyed chatting with host Pedro and his family, and meeting the horses and dogs on property. If you are a 'planespotter' you will enjoy the airplanes landing and taking off from Faro airport nearby. Such a lovely stay we can't wait to return.

All Alpendre accommodations offer an intimate atmosphere and a furnished porch or terrace. All have a private bathroom and a seating area. A satellite TV is also included. The grounds, the room and the staff were all completely lovely. We were welcomed right from the start and felt part of beautiful community all the way through. This was probably the best stay of our 8 week Italy/Portugal adventure.

I was so comfortable I could have stayed longer. Great breakfast and beautiful beaches nearby.

The air-conditioned accommodation is 20 km from Island of Tavira, and guests can benefit from private parking available on site and free WiFi. The accommodation features airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. The tiny house was really spacious and had everything you need. The view is amazing and it's so nice and quiet, perfect to calm down and relax. The host Francisco was easy to reach, gave us recommendations for beaches, restaurants, etc. and he even brought us bread and pastel de nata for breakfast - such a lovely guy!
