The area is also quaint and quiet with great sunset views. The place has everything you need for a short stay and a short drive from Hobbiton and the Blue Springs.

Outdoor play equipment is also available at Miranda Orchard Cottage, while guests can also relax in the garden. Was nice to get extras considering there was no near by shop. Water, juice, biscuits, milk, lots of coffee, salt, sauce, all sorts. And the outside table.

Wendy and Gary are really welcoming and kind.They gave us tea and cake when we arrived and made sure were settled in after our long drive. The room was super comfy and spotless. What a bonus to have the use of the pool too! It was so nice to be with hosts who were friendly but not intrusive. The location for touring the area was just perfect. We wish we had stayed longer!

Tongariro Estate has mountain views, free WiFi and free private parking, situated in National Park, 16 km from Mount Ruapehu. There is a private entrance at the apartment for the convenience of those who stay. The apartment features family rooms. This holiday house has excellent views of Ruapehu, Tongariro and Ngauruhoe so we could see the changing face of these mountains throughout the day and night as the cloud and the mist came and went. The house is well placed to easily drive to the various access points to the Tongariro National Park, such as Whakapapa and Ohakune The kitchen was well equipped and spacious, so preparing meals was no hassle. The bedrooms were reasonably spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. The hosts, Michael & Nicola, were very approachable, great to chat with and very helpful with local information. We would have loved to stay longer. This is a magical part of NZ (at least for an Australian !).
