a spacious house with all practical things you might need from cork screw to aircon, very quiet, and with lovely views into the valley. the starts at night are fantastic. We didn't cook but ate out in the ok tavernas, there are 3 in this little town, nothing special food wise, and the village is quite run down, clearly surviving on passing tourism to and from the Samerian gorge, which is about 20 minutes drive away further up. Good aircon, and great to have mosquito nets on all the windows. We used the little washing machine to clean some clothes, and though we managed to get it to work, it is hit or miss as to if it will. Comfy but narrow bed, i's call it a queen bed to be generous. Please note, it is totally impossible to get a car other then a pickpup truck up the drive, so though there is parking by the house, you can't get there and will have to carry your luggage up a very steep, narrow driveway.
The top choice for people wanting to get away from noise and fast-paced city life. Country houses are private homes based in the peaceful countryside, with communal facilities and meals available. Activities to unwind can be included too, such as trekking, birdwatching and cycling.
The retreat, the village and especially the host and her family are fabulous. Nektaria is very kind and gave us many advises for places to visit on the island. Our boys (and we) loved to swim in the pool. Next to the retreat is a lovely taverna with delicious food and friendly staff. The village Douliana is a romantic, quiet place. We loved all the small streets and many flowers. We will come back for sure. Much more to explore on the island. Thank you Nektaria for everything!

We had a wonderful relaxing break at the villas. We couldn't ask for more, it was exactly what we wanted. Everyone was happy to help and it was peaceful.
We were looking for a quiet place, easy and quick access to the sea, at a reasonable distance in the city of Chania and we got the whole package. A very spacious and well-equipped housing unit. A very kind welcome. A very small village with activities in the cafe and tavern. it was great.
Iliopetra is a group of studios around a lovely pool in the rural village of Douliana. We were the only guests for the first part of our stay so were lucky enough to have the pool to ourselves. The owner welcomed us with supplies for breakfast and slices of cake. She keeps the whole complex immaculate including the attractive gardens. The taverna next door was a good place to eat as was the other taverna in the village. We had a very quiet and relaxed week and thought the place was great.

The villa Syblia was very spacious, well equipped, comfortable with lovely private pool and outdoor pizza oven and BBQ pit. The village is quiet and friendly and has lovely walks from the villa. Beaches were a short drive away and the location is good (with a car) to lots of attractions/places to visit.The host, Nektaria, cooked fresh local home cooking for our arrival which was lovely and was very helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. Would definately recommend staying here.
We stayed in the larger villa with a private pool. It is a lovely property. The owners Nektaria, Christos and family live around 30 minutes away and they could not have been more generous. In addition to helping with the villa, they also dealt with our car hire company for us when we had a flat tyre and suggested places to visit. Douliana is peaceful and comprises several villas, an excellent traditional taverna, cafes and a small shop. Beaches, supermarkets and sites of interest are within easy driving distance.
