This traditional Japanese-style townhouse was created in collaboration with local artists and boasts designs with both modern and traditional Japanese influence. Guests will have the entire property to themselves during their stay. Everything was perfect. Great location, with lovely facilities. Jackson was extremely helpful, which added to the experience. Would highly recommend booking a massage there also.

Very cute, comfortable, and spacious. Location a block off the Higashiyama walking course! WiFi was good, management was responsive and helpful.

Soramachi was a very comfortable house with good facilities. Probably the most spacious and nicest accomodation we experienced in our travels through Japan. Only stayed 2 nights but it provided a relaxing and quiet break from the crowds elsewhere. The house is right on the river and close to a tranquil temple walk and public bathhouse . It is an easy walk from there to the old quarter and we walked to the house with luggage from the station ( 1.4 km). The owners are obviously very house proud and welcoming. Highly recommend this accomodation.

Very close to the train and Takayama bus station, just around 100m. Hotel is clean with good facilities like vending machines in each floor, free coffee/tea hours, and sauna/steam room for hotel guest.

It’s a simple cabin that has everything you need for a cozy and peaceful stay. I really enjoyed muy time there. Free coffee and tea. Clean, comfortable with a very nice vibe.
The place is incredible! How is it not booked month in advance? Located near a beautiful lake halfway between Nagoya and Takayama amidst mountains, the cabin is really big an spacious and has tons of facilities. Family room with fireplace and huge tv with consul, card games, a lot of sitting places. There is also a well equipped kitchen a bbq, really cool tab and a lot of amenities, balcony with beautiful starry night sky.
I really enjoyed every aspect of this cosy stay. Aside from the excellent house and room, the host, Assi, was quite charming. With his good English he was able to put in the extra effort, always as helpful as possible for his guests. He even offered to drive me to Magome when I told him I was doing the old Nakasendo route! Great stay, one of the most memorable of my Japan trip.
We had a great stay, staff was very friendly and helpful, we got some good recommandations for food. We loved our first night that we spent with other guests by the fireplace room, such a cosy and authentic atmosphere.
The room is big, clean and cozy, just like a small apartment, where I could do laundry and simple cooking during my stays. The hotel is just within 5 mins walking distance to nohi bus terminal and train station, there are restaurants, shops, supermarket and Macdonald nearby. By getting access voucher from the staff at front desk, I also used the public onsen for free at Wat Hotel and Spa. It’s worth for try (although it took about 10 mins to walk over) as it has sauna, indoor and outdoor bath.
The guesthouse was beautiful, charming and cosy all in one
We had a very pleasant stay at Guest house Motomiya. The owners were very friendly and helpful and their house is lovely, in the charming countryside on the old Nakasendo. The room was very nice and the beds confortable. And last but not least, the diner was delicious, made of several dishes each of them tastier than the other. Everything was perfect and we highly recommend Motomiya guesthouse !
The room was wide with big beds, very comfortable. We were able to sit and eat outside on the terrace, with nice environment around almost no mosquitos. Since this guest lodge is situated outside the heritage site of Shirakawa, it offers more freedom, but is still in walkable distance to the site. Furthermore, the kitchen area is well equipped so that one can cook anything.
