This was a stop on the Camino Norte after a particularly long day. The address on the directions takes you right to the front door which was a very good start ! The virtual key opens the door remotely and you then step into a small oasis of calm and mystery. it has all you could need for a day or two. There was ice in the freezer and internet TV. Double glazing makes it particularly quiet. Village has shops, bars and restaurants. Particular thanks to my host, Hugo, who was keen to ensure that I got there ok and provided recommendations on what to see. This also took me o to a slightly alternative Camino route along the river that was a very peaceful start to the day.

The breakfast was very nice and we had dinner which was so delicious 😋! Pablo our host and chef was so friendly and welcoming and his lasagne and risotto were excellent. The lounge dining room is very relaxed and comfortable as was our room. There is also an outdoor seating area which is lovely if it’s sunny. Overall there is a lovely peaceful feel in the property and would stay again if in the area.

Our family of four had an extraordinary three-night stay at Casa Toirán. Our studio and one-bedroom apartments, in this newly renovated, farm-house hotel, were clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated. From our terrace, we overlooked a picturesque valley that offered us views of spectacular sunsets. And while our location was tranquil and pastoral, we were only short drives from Sarría and Lugo. But most of all, it was our hosts, Pilar and her daughter Elena, who made our stay at Casa Toirán so special. After learning that we had come to Casa Toirán hoping to find our family’s genealogical roots in a nearby Galician village, and realizing that we had limited information to go on and even more limited Spanish language skills, Pilar and Elena offered to help us with our search. They located and accompanied us to the appropriate Records Office to find our family’s civil documents. They identified and brought us to our family’s church and convinced the custodian to open if for us. And, miraculously, through multiple phone calls to friends of friends, they introduced us to 89-year-old Manual who actually remembered our ancestors and knew where their house had once stood. Pilar and Elena were exceptional women, teaching us all about Spanish generosity, hospitality, and kindness. They gave us a link to our family’s heritage, a gift we will always treasure, and we will never forget them.

Cabanas Da Barcela se găsește în Barreiros, la 2,4 km de San Cosme Altar Beach, și are vedere la mare, WiFi gratuit și parcare privată gratuită. The owner, Santi, was very kind and helpful. Appreciated the strawberries and loganberries from the garden. A few mosquitoes around but the apartment had a plug-in killer. Quiet and peaceful.

The place is beautifully restaurated in a very quiet, relaxing environment. One of the most well preserved houses we have seen around. The host family is really nice and they give you excellent advice for visiting the region. Note that there's no mobile connection or wifi.

We had a late lunch in Triacastela and bought some bread and meat to have a nice picnic dinner at Casa Pacios. The renovated 16th century buildings are beautiful, and we enjoyed the games available in the common room. The breakfast was really nice and the hosts were very helpful and friendly. We were offered storage for our bicycles and an electrical point to charge our e-bike.
