We booked two nights at the Villa Tha Maphrao either end of our Thailand holiday and would happily have stayed longer. From the pick up at the airport to arrival at the oasis of calm and tranquility that is the Villa Tha Maphrao everything is geared towards the comfort and relaxation of the guests.
We chose VTM due to its proximity to the airport but were soon to realise it is so much more. Peter and his wife Oi are two of the warmest hosts you could imagine. Their raison d'etre is ensuring their guests feel at home and we certainly did. Our stay at the beginning of the holiday provided us with a welcome opportunity to rest and recoup after a long flight, similarly at the end of our holiday we returned and enjoyed our last couple of nights relaxing before our early flight home.
Peter is a knowledgeable and warm host who gets the balance just right - he goes out of his way to meet the needs of his guests but in a subtle way so you do not feel overwhelmed and your privacy is maintained. One evening Peter dropped us off at a fabulous local fish restaurant, the food was superb and excellent price point. We also ate at a traditional Thai beach restaurant that we would never have found ourselves. Oi is quite possibly the sweetest host you will ever meet, she goes out of her way to ensure you have everything you need and cooks fabulous Thai food and amazing breakfasts including platters of fruit, home made yoghurt, coconut pancakes and freshly baked cakes and banana bread. Oi is always on the go, working tirelessly to ensure that everywhere is spotlessly clean for her guests, our rooms were the cleanest of anywhere we stayed in Thailand with crisp white bed linemen changed daily.
The pool is just perfect - clean and ideal temperature for cooling dips and nighttime swims under the stars.

Loved our stay here due to the peace and quiet of the area. Hotel was peaceful. Enjoyable breakfast selection from their menu, nice drinks by the pool with views of the beach. Room with its pool and spa bath was spacious eithe everything you’d need. Service was attentive and friendly, be sure to try the romantic dinner on the beach for a memorable experience. We also had a soothing spa treatment for two hours with massage and facial and booked the half day private tour to James Bond Island and the surrounding areas.
The hotel is in a very beautiful place right by the beach,the hotel environment is very cozy and very relaxing.We stayed in a duplex room, it was nice and cozy, but it need update.
An excellent place for a vacation if you have a car. Nearby there is a good restaurant, shops, laundry. Close to deserted beaches. There are many interesting places to go and see. Cozy hotel in a garden with a pond, clean spacious rooms and daily cleaning. Showering under the open sky and feeding the fish is a special pleasure. Good breakfasts. Friendly and responsive hostess.
I had a fantastic stay at this cozy and well-maintained hotel in Phang Nga province. The overwater balcony and open-air shower were delightful. The breakfasts served in the room were both hearty and delicious, deserving special praise. The bed linen and towels were fresh and clean. Highly recommended!
We celebrated wedding anniversary and my birthday wife and we have been surprised with romanticl design and a birthday cake in the room, thanks a lot to the stuf.
The place is beautiful. the cabin was great . the food was delicious and the menu was rich. the main pool is big and clean and there are many nice places to sit and drink or take a pictures. the beach is beautiful and quiet. the bed is huge and there are many comfortable pillows. the service of the waiters is very good. the private pool was very clean and big and so the shower.
