Lots to do if you are not expecting to be entertained and catered to, if you are curious, self-sufficient, nature-loving person. Hiking trails, small shop with everything you need in everyday life and espresso do die for (70cents!), church and museum, couple of restaurants and natural pools with all necessary amenities, whale-watching and ceramics - you will be busy! Add to it the terrain, ups and downs, lefts and rights of the winding roads, lava rocks and view of the ocean EVERYWHERE - and you get your Calheta de Nesquim

This is a really exceptional place if you love traditional simple houses made of black lava stone, rearranged with original materials and good taste. The house is spacious and with all the comfort, but still gives the guest a peculiar sense of authenticity. The hosts are very friendly and their hospitality is very much appreciated.

Dawn is a lovely host! We ended up arriving late due to a storm and she made sure we had some food in the apartment. Her dog Luna is a cutie pie and came to say hi every morning! The location is nice and remote (though most places on Pico are). Kitchen is fully equipped and we cooked two meals there each day. She also provided a dehumidifier and fan which were really helpful.
