It is an oasis of tranquility in this beautiful Japanese house. This is the place if you want to experience a traditional living space.
We especially enjoyed the spacious rooms (after generally finding Japanese hotel rooms very small) and the beautiful courtyard gardens with koi pond. Our stay during the rainy season made it even more atmospheric and magical.
There are so many interesting little touches and quirky features to enjoy, and thoughtful additions like sound systems in every space. The owner Katsuhiro was so generous and sweet and looked after us very well. He has created such a welcome environment that makes it very hard to leave the house! Our advice is forget about sightseeing and just enjoy the house and cute shops and cafes in the area.

Guest House DOUGO-YADO in Matsuyama left a lasting impression on us during our brief stay. From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to welcome us warmly to Matsuyama. Despite our late arrival at 7.30 pm, they personally met us to give us the keys and provide invaluable advice on what to experience in the city.
Their friendliness and dedication to ensuring our comfort were truly remarkable. We were blown away by their hospitality and felt disappointed that we had only booked one evening at their lovely home. This experience has left such a positive impact on us that it makes me want to visit Japan again, just so I can spend more time in Matsuyama and at Guest House DOUGO-YADO.

We were travelling for two weeks in a campervan and really needed a day to recover and sleep well. Very happy we booked this hotel! Since this Onsen had the best facilities!
After using the onsen (indoor and outdoor + sauna) we could was our clothes, use the massage chairs for free, eat icecream after the onsen. Also the beds are a 10/10
Clean, cozy room. Kettle and mug provided in the room, and the included breakfast was very good, worth the extra cost. It’s close to the station, and not too far from Matsuyama castle.
Very good place. The coffee was nice and free, together with crackers and tea. It’s cozy. Near all Onsen. Has a nice kitchen and common area to hang around. They give you free towel if you are and ohenro.
This was such a great place to stay, the room was cozy and there were many extra items available to borrow, like soap for the onsen. The owner was super friendly too. I loved walking around in the neighbourhood and how conveniently close it was to the famous onsens. Defiantly worth the price.
Cozy friendly place. Usual dorm. I really appreciate the guesthouse using cloth handkerchief at the wash basin for wiping hands instead of paper towels! Trash is a big problem everywhere even in Japan. Every little effort counts! Thank you! Dorm is close to the Dogo onsen and the market street. Very convenient and lovely stay.
