Kathleen's Carrowkeel Cottage, hotel in Gorteen

Offering a garden and garden view, Kathleen's Carrowkeel Cottage is set in Sligo, 24 km from Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club and 29 km from Cathedral of Immaculate Conception.

I recently stayed at Kathleen’s Carrowkeel Cottage, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The cottage itself is a beautiful blend of traditional farmhouse charm and modern interior comforts. Nestled in a peaceful, quiet area, it offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The house is super clean—everything was spick and span, with no unpleasant smells in the kitchen or elsewhere. It’s very well designed, with comfort and coziness clearly in mind. From the layout to the thoughtful furnishings, it felt like a home away from home. One of the highlights for me was the view out the back—two majestic horses in the backyard and a cow farm just beyond, adding to the unique countryside feel. It was a different experience waking up to the sights and sounds of the farm, which added a lovely, authentic touch to my stay. While there is no Wi-Fi at the cottage, I was able to get a good 5G signal in the kitchen, so staying connected wasn't an issue. Overall, Carrowkeel Cottage is a lovely place for anyone looking to relax in a serene environment while still enjoying all the comforts of a modern home.

A very handy location for visiting relatives. The house is just slightly off the beaten track, but well-connected to the surrounding locations by road. Very comfortable and nicely designed and furnished small holiday home. Very pleasant interior decoration, and lots of natural light inside the house, which was very enjoyable. Nicely maintained. Moving in, entering and discovering the house for the first time was very enjoyable. Nice views.

Easy check-in, easy check-out. Internet and TV was great, just some restarts of the router were necessary. Also the shop nearby provide all what we need. Kevin and Maureen contacted us a few times to be sure all is fine. Nice pubs also close to the cabin. Good place to explore County Sligo, Ben Bulben, County Mayo, Lough Key etc.
