I fell in love with Maryport! Cumbrians who don't live there refer to it as 'Scaryport' but it is a lovely, safe place full of friendly locals. It's rundown with lots of boarded up frontages but there are lots of 'green shoots' growing such as a art gallery featuring local artists, a dog friendly cafe and even classical concerts! This is a town that is re-eventing itself. In 10 years time, it will be a trendy, up and coming place.
Which brings me to Bells Yard Cottage which acts as a metaphor for Maryport: charming, rundown, strangely welcoming, comfortable and in need of some TLC!

It was very clean and in good condition. Sofa's were comfy, kitchen was up to date and had everything. Loved that there were 2 bathrooms.

Reception from Staff was polite and professional. We didn’t have evening meal in restaurant but following morning breakfast was excellent. I recommend Cumbrian cooked breakfast, evident it was local produce, my wife had Eggs Benedict cooked to perfection. Overall impressed with facilities and would happily stay here again.
Cottages are perfect for travellers who enjoy feeling cosy and independent in the countryside. Usually small, traditionally built houses, cottages spread across one or two floors, making them great for families, or holidays with a little more privacy.
