Location fab, lovely quiet site, caravan was clean and had everything we needed for a nice 4 day break. Had a journey out to Amble and a fantastic meal at the Cook and Barker Inn at Newton le Moor. Overall it was a lovely relaxing break and the dog loved walking round the lake and in the woods.

A Travel Lodge it is not. Shock to the first-time visitor as it is a one-of-a-kind place just of the A1, Quirky is a term used in many of the reviews for a reason, it is original and not to be forgotten once found never forgotten staff are friendly and owners passionate about the place as they have restored it themselves, bedrooms are varied and unique we would stay again. Apart from some road noise, the place is fairly quiet and also offers glamping on site, Great breakfast and a lovely eating area are well-presented.

Shilbottle is a village with good amenities including a friendly pub, a lovely cafe, a fantastic Indian and a nice pizza takeaway. The cottage had modern decor and was very cosy for a couple and their dog. It was a good location to explore the area which we knew well. We didn't sleep in the upstairs room, but the downstairs double was very comfortable. The upstairs window gave amazing views of the sunrise and the stars at night.

The Lodge was a quirky beautiful collection of rooms. Our host was charming, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was in the dining room set in converted stables. A lovely selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juice, tea, coffee, toast with homemade preserved and a cooked English breakfast. All delicious. A spacious living area with cosy fire made a welcoming space. A super comfy bed made our stay complete.

Charming, I thought with the name Lodge it was a big brand off the A1 and found a delightful small local business within an historic farm building

Absolutely charming converted farm buildings. Quirky and interesting decor, in a cleverly adapted, lovely warm room. There’s a beautiful, low-ceilinged, large shared sitting room with well-worn cosy sofas and chairs. We sat by the roaring log burner for several hours, sipping drinks we’d brought with us. The breakfast was delicious - really tasty and well cooked, with decent coffee, pastries, toast and excellent homemade jam.
