Honestly everything. You can tell this host is thoughtful and kind. We actually broke down on the way, we walked in and the host had left all our creature comforts. Coffee, tea, biccies, bottled water, even a lil choccy treat. Some milk for us, there was Netflix in the rooms. The kiddy room has a nightlight and a reading book and a blanket! I honestly can't even express how well thought out the accomodation was. Everything was comfy. Everything was clean. There was even a book with recommended garages for repairs which was useful! Recommended visits, and takeaway leaflets etc etc. I was shocked by how much thought the host put into this. My family and I travel almost every other weekend to places along the UK because our friends and family are so scattered and not once have I ever come across a host owned accommodation that has ever been this considerate and such a home from home. There were board games and digital games and DVDs and honestly the list could go on, the dishwasher, the cleaning up products easily on hand, the makeup table! Everything was just so perfect and made us feel so at ease. We didn't want to leave to be honest 🤣 it definitely made us want to stay in Durham forever, so much so that we've already booked our longer next stay and did so before we had even left. Parking was easy and at the front of the property! So very handy for getting things out the boot! Check in was also easily done with a lockbox and code sent on the day! Host was fantastic at.communicating with us and I can only say a massive thank you to the host for such a memorable stay!
Cottages are perfect for travellers who enjoy feeling cosy and independent in the countryside. Usually small, traditionally built houses, cottages spread across one or two floors, making them great for families, or holidays with a little more privacy.
The barn was cosy, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The food in the pub was amazing! The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location was great for walks and a visit to Grassholme Observatory. The tea, coffee, sugar, and milk were very much appreciated after our long drive.
A warm and cosy cottage, perfect for me and my dog. There was handy off street parking and a lovely little garden .The kitchen was well appointed and the bed and bedding super luxurious and comfortable. There were beautiful dog walks straight from the door, either the railway walk or along the lanes. Everyone we met along the way was friendly towards us.
A lovely, warm, cosy cottage. Kitchen very modern and well equipped. It was nice to have a little garden. I was particularly delighted that there was an off road parking space. Lots of dog walks from the door, especially along the old railway track .
Kitchen facilities exceeded our expectations, a full working kitchen stocked with all utensils and cupboard staples you may need. The cottage was exceptionally clean and presented lovely, so cosy! We visited for the surrounding walks with our two dogs and were not disappointed. Will definitely be returning in the future.
Charming cottage built 1801 and tastefully renovated inside. With such thick walls we felt cool in the hottest week of the year and didn't hear a thing from the adjoining cottage. Owner extremely friendly and pleasant. Surrounding countryside wall to wall beautiful scenery. Reviews I read before hand talked of things that were lacking so I took them with us only to find everything was already there. Very quiet and peaceful. Great butcher in Middleton-in-Teasdale. Wish we could take him home with us!
