Beautiful little hotel with stunning grounds. The staff were fabulous!
Charlie, Brett, Andrea and of course Andy the chef. All couldn't do enough for us and were so accommodating. Honestly one of the best places I've stayed in a long time and the food was just exceptional.

We like the garden which has the benefit of the view of beautiful plant, especially the red acer at the fence.
The hot water bath with ample water pressure.
The kitchen is so well equipped enable us to cook some decent dinners for three.
Bedrooms are well sound proof and we could have sound sleep and good rest after the daytime activities.

the location of the cottage is fantastic, high Lorton is a tiny beautiful quiet village, there was a stream directly behind the house that the kids loved. there was a good village shop with local produce and good coffee and the kids could play on the playground at the local school. The cottage was cozy and cute.
Compliments first to the person that cleans and gets this property ready - excellent.
The ample amount of wood for the wood burner is exceptionally generous.
It's our 5th time staying at this cottage so that should tell you what we think of this cottage!
The Location is excellent, walks onto the fells straight from the front door.
Welcome pack really good mix of local produce from the village store.
Lovely and warm cottage with the addition of coal to put the fires on if required. The standard of the cottage is very good.
Tranquil location overlooking the mountains. On the quieter side of the Lake District away from the packed Ambleside / Windermere Lake. Excellent location for walking with all the main peaks within easy reach. The upsidedown cottage took advantage of the views. Easy access to Cockermouth for shopping.
The location was great for access too many walking alternatives as well as 2 pubs. The welcome pack was excellent and the cottage recently decorated with modern bathrooms. Just a pity the owners hadn’t invested in the matters mentioned below to improve the overall experience
Scales Cottage was the most excellent base for exploring the Northern Lakes and Fells. A lovely cottage, well-appointed, and in a quiet and secluded location. The hosts were helpful, without being intrusive, and the fishing lake is a perfect spot to sit and share a drink after a hard day's walking.
