Cackle hill lakes, Kingfisher Lodge, hotel in Headcorn

Boasting lake views, Cackle hill lakes, Kingfisher Lodge features accommodation with a patio, around 18 km from Leeds Castle.

This has to be one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Looks striking as you arrive and see it on the lake but the minute we opened the door the smell was awful, there is a tank which collects the toilet deposits behind the hut and the bathroom absolutely stinks and it flows throughout the cabin. I had to leave once it got dark and went back in the morning. Nothing luxury about the cabin whatsoever, very basic. Furnishings in bedroom very dated . Dried residue in sugar canister . Garden chairs were sodden and mouldy, table was filthy and all the decking veranda was covered in bird poo. You couldn’t cast out properly for fishing due to a giant tree obstructing the area. It really does not justify the price at all.

Frith Farm House Cottages, hotel in Headcorn

Frith Farm House Cottages consists of a small collection of cottages located on an old farm in the North Kent countryside.

Only a couple of nights which felt like a week away. Just superb in every way, comfortable, stunning surroundings. Slept like a log. To be greeted by the hosts dogs in the morning, which was a nice surprise. Having the heated private pool to ourselves was spectacular. A proper home from home. We will definitely book again.

Location in the countryside. Lots of light and sun in the cottage made it a very nice place to sit and read and relax . Although for us the pond area was very wet due to previous rain - this would have been delightful for evening summer drinks .

Pretty basic, small room, in need of a spruce up. (much smaller than a Travelodge or Premier inn) Choices for dinner in the restaurant were your standard pub fayre but very tasty. Food stains on underside of bed runner. Very very poor wifi, no sockets next to bed for charging phones, tiny TV which had the wrong remote control (did bring to their attention and was resolved). Not great value for money but handy place to stay while visiting the Benenden Hospital (15mins away)
