The self catering cottage was well equipped and spacious. It was very good value having booked with last minute reduction. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful The grounds of the hotel are extensive ans we enjoyed the free ranging peacock's geese and hens
Location is great for Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, Scafel Pike and Wastwater
We were a group of 8 people and stayed in one of the cottages. The place is very cosy with beautiful surroundings! It was a shame we only stayed for one night and had to leave early as we were doing the 3 Peak Challenge across UK.
Staff were helpful too and had no problem with us checking out early in the morning.
Location is great as we wanted to go over the hardknott pass and this is pretty much at the end of it once you’ve been over, depending which way you come from of course but it worked out perfectly for us. Lovely and cozy with the log fires, great cottage and period feel about it.
Self catering cottage - was comfortable although the 'put you up' bed was not fit for an adult. Kitchen was excellent. The buildings were interesting and engaging.
Idyllic location with historic and rustic buildings. Pastures with sheep grazing adjoined the accommodation. The on-site, historic pub, where we had a tasty dinner and an equally good breakfast, was charming and comfortable. Adjacent to the pub there was also an extensive outdoor seating area on a large lawn that we and others around us enjoyed, and where we enjoyed drinks from the pub.
Lovely spot with beautiful views and garden. Hot tub great and miniature railway a delight. Decor a little dated but of little matter, a completely charming find. Owner very helpful too.
Really nice little cottage, we just added a note that we were bringing a dog and they sorted it
The staff were really nice, we ate at the restaurant and had drinks at the bar and everyone was nice
The rooms are cute and cosy
