Bridge House Hotel & Silver Howe View Cottage, hotel in Dockray

The extensively-refurbished Bridge House Hotel is set in Grasmere, directly across from St Oswalds Church and the graveyard where William Wordsworth rests.

Well.. where do I start! Fantastic hotel - nestled in the heart of Grasmere. Fab location, transport and stay. Beautiful king room, clean and comfy. The staff - Sarah, Amber, Rhian and Ben - were super friendly and welcoming, and most definitely the best staff we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I rang up ahead of time to request a little surprise for my partner’s 30th birthday, and they set up champagne and fresh chocolate strawberries in the room, without hesitation. They even signed a card and left chocolates. Hugely appreciated and made our stay very special. The room was just stunning. We had the river outside the room. The hotel in general is modern, tasteful and spotless and the breakfast, afternoon tea and coffee was excellent. Nothing was too much to ask or do, and you were greeted by smiles, laughter, guidance and support every morning, noon and night. They really went above and beyond - thank you, team! Our new spot for years to come, without a doubt. If you’re looking for a place to stay in grasmere - look no further - you won’t be disappointed..

Second time we have stayed at this property. My dad is a wheelchair user and the whole property is designed with a wheelchair user in mind without making it overly obvious. Great location, parking, washing machine and welcome pack. We'll definitely be booking for a 3rd time!

Great breakfast. Beautiful country location. Easy to get to by car but not otherwise very accessible. Great service, comfy lounge area and diner, good food. Very friendly and supportive staff. Even lit the fireplace for us, brought us milk for our little girl at dinner, accommodated our preferences at breakfast and didn’t complain about our slightly late checkout!

The hotel is in a quiet, idyllic village and is steeped in history. Our room was large, beautifully decorated and extremely clean. The bathroom was modern and the room had all the facilities you needed. We ate in the restaurant and the food was fabulous as good as you would expect in an al a carte restaurant. Breakfast was excellent with a good range of choice and locally sourced produce. The price was very reasonable compared to other hotels we had booked for our road trip around the lakes and Scottish highlands and was the best!

Gorgeous and exceptionally comfortable space with a cozy electric fire and modern bathroom. The whole place combined the cozy countryside feel with a modern twist seamlessly. Great location right on a public footpath so excellent for walkers - on the first day we went for a wander and happened upon Aira force waterfalls.
