My wife and I needed a break and had some appointments booked locally. The property was central to where we needed to be. On arrival we bumped into the cleaner Mandie, who was only too willing to offer her help and support. Support we used the following day when she came to my wife's aid by speaking with a local mechanic with an enquiry.
The house is situated on the edge of a hamlet close to the road which leads to La Soutarraine which is a 10 minute drive. The house is private and secure behind a gated drive with enough parking for a couple of cars. It has a large garden with an area that is a little sun trap for eating outside, which we did on several occasions.
Inside the house there are three double sized bedrooms with double beds. the bathroom, separate loo, storage cupboard, open plan sitting room with TV. The rooms are bright and spacious, with large windows which are shuttered. The kitchen that is huge with a central dinning table which could easily fit 8 to 10 people for dinner and all the usual kitchen essentials such as coffee machines, fridge, oven, you get the picture.
We bought our son a small pool which was set up in the garden for our stay and he loved jumping in and out all day long wandering about the garden counting the lizards. Sitting outside was a real pleasure, no mosquitos thankfully and surrounded by trees and flowers. This could be even better though, with the addition of sun loungers?
The washing machine was put to good use, so by the end of our stay, everything had been washed and ready to be put back in the wardrobe on our return home.
The shower was great, powerful enough but very hot, so be carful, you have been warned!
In the later evenings my wife and I sat on the sofa come sofa bed did crosswords listening to French TV, whilst our son watch movies or playing Nintendo. I think its safe to say, We relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. With a few tweeks here and there a good stay could easily become a Great stay.
Cottages are perfect for travellers who enjoy feeling cosy and independent in the countryside. Usually small, traditionally built houses, cottages spread across one or two floors, making them great for families, or holidays with a little more privacy.
