Great location and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The house was very well equipped with everything we needed to make all our meals as well as covering any things we might have left at home (towels plugs etc.)

We last visited Yzerfontein in the early ‘70’s, when there was little more than a handful of single story houses and no commercial development.
The way it looks today was quite a surprise - and not a pleasant one! What a confusing tangle of roads, too many “sleeping policemen”, and not enough street name signs.
Furthermore, we were shocked to see how few of the many eateries offer line fish on their menu, other than the usual fish and chips.
On the up side, there is an excellent SuperSpar, and a fabulous artisanal bakery/coffee shop.
As for the restaurants, rather plan on self-catering!
It is quite alarming to see the number of large double story holiday homes that are vacant, and apparently are seldom used more than once or twice a year - Easter and Christmas.

A friendly, laid-back community. There are more new houses than old giving it a fresh and vibrant feel.
The wind can get you at certain times of the year.
If they could heat the sea a bit it would be perfect!!!
The Rosemead bakery is out of this world!!!
Check restaurant reviews before visiting as there appears to be a few arrogant managers around.

West coast tranquility at its best. Has an open unspoiled feel, admittedly I was there during the week and it was slightly chilly hence beach visit was not applicable. But the scenery and calmness of the area provided food for the soul. We had some excellent meals... The Greek Place was a small gem. Best Kleftiko I've eaten anywhere.

There were more than enough eateries to chose from so I didn't have to prepare any meals, which was amazing!!!
Yzerfontein basically is the best place for a complete reset and such a beautiful little gem on the West Coast.

We purposely went out of season, as we do not like crowded areas. Yzerfontein met the requirement after the schools reopened at the end of the school holidays.
There are many places to stay and we think we have found the perfect spot.
Thanks so much for a lovely stay in Yzerfontein. The check-in was quick and efficient. The location is stunning, with direct views of the ocean from the room. The guesthouse is situated on the rocky beach. The room was very spacious, well equipped and clean. The host Ria was awesome, very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this guesthouse for your stay in Yzerfontein.
Its literally a home away from home, very friendly service and our doggo loved every moment.
Everything was provided for, small details have been thought of with care like the blankets, dog biskuits and chocolates on arrival and so so much more!

There is a lovely view of the ocean from everywhere in the unit. The beach is about 50m down the road with long stretches of white beach on either side. There is also a boardwalk if you don't like walking on the beach.
The verandah is covered with glass on the one side, so it makes a lovely corner to have coffee in the morning without the wind being a problem.
Clean rustic double room (unit 9) , comfy bed, great location (close to Yzerfontein town but far enough to enjoy the peace, quiet and tranquility of Dassen Island nature reserve) We had a porch (not all the rooms have that) with a nice view of the salt pan / lake. Friendly kitchen staff
A perfect stay in Yzerfontein.
All the amenities you would expect and a comfortable stay. We were welcomed on arrival and during our stay spent most of our time between the pool, braai and beach each day. Would surely recommend and revisit for our next holiday in Yzerfontein.
Spacious, clean and comfortable. The owners are welcoming. Great view from Fynbos apartment. Nicely situated in a quiet area of Yzerfontein. The kitchen is well catered and has all you could need. Fireplace as well for cold winter nights.
Our host Francois was great. We loved the amazing views and the fact that we were right on the beach. Amazing hosts, friendly staff, beautiful setting. We will most definitely book Orca House again in the near future.
My partner and I had a lovely weekend away in Yzerfontein. The host was so kind and accommodating (checking in with us if we were happy with everything). The property was in a lovely location, clean and felt spacious.
Location, size, layout is perfect for family and friends. Wonderful size pool, right on the beach, watching sunsets from the deck. The beds are extremely comfortable, we all commented on how perfect the beds were .
yzerfontein was a wonderful visit and made even more special by the accommodation. Amazing view of the whole bay. The host was readily available and we would stay there again
