A lovely cosy cottage, especially when the fireplace is roaring, in the beautiful mountains outside McGregor. The hiking on the doorstep is wonderful, and it was lovely to have the games room and to have a boating lake nearby where we enjoyed sundowners in the beautiful sunset. I'd recommend anyone coming to take advantage of the breakfast, it was spectacular.

This well-appointed cottage lies in the heart of a very quaint village. It is superbly designed and furnished. The owners definitely have the comfort of the guests in mind. We arrived on a very hot day. The aircon was a real life-saver and the outdoor shower an added bonus! A perfect location from which to explore McGregor and surrounds.

The Little Red Caboose was adorable - and a must for all train enthusiasts!
We loved the story about the restoration of the carriage and the photo book.
We also appreciated the few extras that were provided. Many thanks!

McGregor is a beautiful little town for picture-perfect houses and lovely places to eat. We loved eating breakfast at 51 and lunch at the Bistro on the main road. Vrolikeid Nature Reserve is a must - a well run and stunningly beautiful hiking spot offering varying length hikes. There's plenty more to do ie. pottery studios, the donkey sanctuary, so will definitely be visiting again!

A small charming village in a lovely setting.
A small charming village in a lovely setting. Not much else to do but walk and eat, but there are 7 restaurants of which the Fat Lady’s Arms was a fun choice. It’s a quiet getaway spot but at times does feel like you’ve stumbled into a retirement home!

Small and wonderful village!
Small and wonderful village! I was lucky to stop there for a night and amaze by the village. There’s few bar options, wonderful restaurants (I went to the Fat Lady’s arm after my guest house owner recommended and I was not disappointed! The food was excellent and they had different choices to pleased I believe everyone!)
The morning after I was lucky to catch the Saturday morning market. Fantastic!

McGregor is a very small
Community. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The only downside is having to travel to Robertson should you require anything from the bigger shops but if you plan well there shouldn't be a need to travel.

We went specifically to visit the Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary just outside McGregor. It was amazing. The property is pristine. There is a lovely restaurant, book shop and gift shop. A friendly, knowledgeable guide introduced us to the donkeys. They were beautiful, peaceful and very well cared for. Definitely worth a visit, also an opportunity to adopt one of these incredible animals and make a very worthwhile contribution to donkey welfare in general. We also enjoyed exploring the quaint little village of McGregor.
Breakfast was great: fruit and yogurt followed by an English breakfast. The last day of my stay I had an omelette which was especially tasty. Breakfast is served with fresh juice and coffee. The property is located in a quiet part of town. I had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Mcgregor is a great little town with many good restaurants, friendly people and lots to do.
Beautiful property in the heart of McGregor. Stacey is a great host - lovely breakfast and little touches like the homemade cookies and the banana bread for our trip back to Cape Town. The accommodation has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
