The dinner was exceptional. Lovely to have a fire going in the restaurant at night. We stayed in The Barn and it was a pleasant, comfortable, and spacious room. Nandi was an excellent cook, and she was always smiling.

Breakfast was nice. All utilities were available for making breakfast.
It is a town where one can shop around. The roads are so shocking, there are potholes everywhere and they are bad. I was so worried about my tyres. That is the only reason that would make me not to visit Grahamstown, roads are very bad.

The Grahamstown Art festival was the attraction.
The Grahamstown Art festival was the attraction. Grahamstown, being an academic hub, has the potential to do more to attract visitors. This will surely boost the much needed economic drive.
We popped in at the local Steers around 19h00 on our way home. The eatery was quite busy but service a bit slow.

Roads very badly potholed.
Roads very badly potholed. Town looks very run down - very sad to see, especially by way of contrast with my memories from the early 70s. Municipal funds clearly not being allocated to improving (or even maintaining) municipal services, but no surprises there ...
The Fork & Dagger restaurant was a very pleasant surprise - great food, great service.

Not exactly the town or city it used to be approximately eight or so years ago. No drinkable water, potholes everywhere without exception. It has gone backward so much that the citizens have nothing to be proud of. Unless an urgent intervention is done to change this decay, they will soon lose the festival goers in the future.

Beautiful historic buildings, feels like Europe.
Beautiful historic buildings, feels like Europe. Loved, loved it. Most of the streets are very clean and lovely. I cannot say enough about the friendliness of the people/residents. We saw smiles everywhere you went. It was the most beautiful thing.
We had the most enjoyable stay at Fiddlewood Fields and were made to feel so welcome and at home. The beds were very comfortable and the location was very convenient. We left an item behind in our room by mistake and only realised hours later, Ros kindly delivered it to a location in Grahamstown within minutes. I would highly recommend Fiddlewood Fields to anyone.
Home away from home. Luba and his staff are friendly, warm and very helpful. The accommodation is clean. Beds are comfortable. Grahamstown was cold but we were snug with underblankets and warm cosy blankets. Beautiful manicured gardens. Sufficient parking. Good security. Scrumptious breakfast
