In my opinion, Sapa is now an extremely bad place to stay for more than a day or two. Crowded with people and traffic, a very noisy city full of smog and garbage. On the other hand, it is an ideal base for short scooter trips to the surrounding areas. But if you can, look elsewhere for cheaper accommodation. We found good food only with great difficulty and very far from the center, basically unreachable without a motorbike. Today, Sapa is a classic tourist attraction with all the classic ills of the tourism industry.

The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city,...
The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city, with crowding, bustle and traffic jams on the streets. Everything is very expensive with very low value for money.
Unfortunately we encountered many children in local costumes dancing or taking photos with tourists for a few baht. Local organizations advise tourists not to give money or candy to children so as not to encourage them to drop out of school.
However, the surrounding villages are very beautiful to enjoy the nature, the wonderful view, peace and quiet, The transportation from Sapa to the villages is relatively cheap for citizens who trade with Euro or Dollar. In the surrounding villages there are many good options for accommodation and food with wonderful nature, good services and reasonable prices. There are many hiking trails and all hoteliers can arrange to have a guide at a low price. You can thus meet people from some local tribes and discuss their way of life.
Prefer the surrounding villages, anyway no attractions are inside Sapa.
Currency exchange is not very easy. ATMs only spoke Vietnamese, the bank only opened in the morning, and the currency exchange shop gave a much lower rate. For credit or debit card transactions they charged an additional 5%. Many attractions only accepted cash for the ticket.
In summary I recommend staying outside of Sapa and carrying enough cash.

Sapa is a well known tourist destination.
Sapa is a well known tourist destination. The Cable Car to Fansipan was really awesome. The Cable Cars are a bit expensive for Vietnam standards, but it's completely understandable considering the engineering used to build it. They are still much cheaper than ones I've been on other places in the world(Hong Kong, Gatlinburg USA, others).
The Glass Elevator/Bridge about 30 minutes drive from the city was an amazing experience and highly recommended.
Around the Sapa station area, we tried to sit and relax from walking around all day. Some street sellers dressed in ethnic outfits stood right next to us even after we said no several times. Even after we bought something, 2 more of them showed up and wanted us to buy more. After 10 minutes we had to leave, because we couldn't relax due to their aggressive selling.

Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension...
Fansipan summit is a breath taking view from suspension cable cab. Buy the tickets one way to the summit, then walking down to visit all the pagodas. Bring along a warm coat, ears cover because the summit weather is unpredictable. The day we visited Fansipan, lowland temperature was 19 degree Celsius with clear sky and fully sunny, by the time we reached the summit around 11am. the temperature was dropped down to 2 degree Celsius with high wind and partial cloudy. Most Sapa villages have unpaved trail, be sure to purchase knee high waterproof boots at the Sapa main market if you plan to visit those villages during rainy season. Bring small Vietnamese currency such as 1000VND or 2000VND if you want to give out to the little kids beggar or for a chance to take a picture with them

Sapa is a bit overhyped thanks to Social Media.
Sapa is a bit overhyped thanks to Social Media. I would stay 4 days in total. Two for hiking, once north, once south (or taking motorbike tours), one for a traditional ethnic workshop like batik or embroidery and one to go up Fansipan, the highest mountain in Indochina.
Sapa is a small city that has become increasingly touristic and you will encounter several places that operate with fake google ratings.
Vietnam and the beauty of the highlands
Sapa is a natural beauty, We made the right choice when coming to this hotel, the hotel with European-style colors, looks different from the outside, but when entering the reception hall and the room is very large. , utility services such as hot water swimming pool and sauna operate very effectively and usefully.
You will want to come back and stay again when you have the opportunity to come to Sapa
Thank you for giving me a wonderful vacation in Sapa
The property is relatively new being on its 10th day of operation. The bed is one of the most comfortable I’ve slept on, pillows are nice and fluffy, sheets crispy white and towels soft and absorbent.
The owner Khanh ta is friendly, pleasant and accommodating. She helped us book our tour to Phang Xi Phan, bought our Vietnamese coffee and called our shuttle driver to Hanoi and gave directions to find the hotel.
Breakfast buffet is sufficient, tasty with healthy choices. Value for money
Really great hospitality. The hotel just opened 2 months ago. Good food and nice rooms with the best beds and sheets we have had in Vietnam so far. Great views when you wake up, spectacular to see the clouds come and go. We also joined a real local dinner (which was tasty) and nice to learn more about the Vietnamese culture. Besides that the early morning breakfast sandwich to go on the last day (omelette, tomato and cheese) tasted delicious and was outstandingly good.
This was the nicest hotel we stayed in whilst travelling Vietnam. The hotel is brand new and everything feels so clean and fresh. The rooms are really bright and spacious, with super comfortable beds. The staff really go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, haven’t had as good service as this before from a hotel! Breakfast is really tasty too. Location is good to be able to walk into Sapa and explore the local cafes and restaurants.
Everything! I booked this place about 2 minutes before I showed up as my original hotel fell through, and got super lucky. The location was great, central but slightly off the main street so nice and quiet overnight; the place was very clean and very comfortable and the service/hospitality was phenomenal. By far the best accommodation experience I had in over 3 weeks in Vietnam. They have 2 cats and a dog and it was just really homely. Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful time at Eco Palms House !
The location was perfect with a stunning view of the rice fields. The staff is truly devoted to making our experience the best as possible ! (I even had a cake on my 30th birthday made by the cook).
Nam (the hotel manager) is always friendly, warm and caring.
The rooms are very comfortable with Vietnamese traditional decoration. We had the best sleep !
Thanks again so much for this amazing stay !
Excellent hospitality. Staff were very friendly and professional. Good WiFi speed and connection and they serve really good breakfast (especially their yogurt and milk!) Tried their spa package with the traditional herb bath and Vietnamese massage and it's excellent! Masseuse were very attentive and professional, one of the best spa experience I have been to. Highly recommended to stay at this hotel if you are in Sapa!
Hotel is in a central location so easy to get to anywhere in SaPa. The hotel is clean, the staff are friendly and polite. We stayed for two days, paid for Mountain View and we we rewarded on our second morning with lovely clear views of the mountains. Breakfast was plentiful and both Vietnamese and western options. Slept well, comfortable large bed, good quiet aircon and large shower. Had a lovely stay and recommend.
This was definitely the best hotel at our trip around Vietnam. Even the weather was cloudy in March, we made the best of it and did a hike. But, the best thing is to enjoy the incredible massage afterwards. We had a package with a coffee body scrub and it was so relaxing. Rooms were cosy and food was excellent. Last, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
This homestay is close to sapa station for Fansipan mountain and number of other must see attractions in Sapa as cat cat village .The rooms were clean and really comfy.
The host was really kind and helped us book bus to Hanoi and dropped us to bus stop. The view from room is serene. This hotel comes highly recommended by me for anyone visiting downtown.
The Boutique Hotel is situated a few hundred meters from the main attractions of Sapa, the hotel is cleanish and good value and the staff are friendly and efficient. We booked a short hiking day-tour with a local minority guide which was one of the highlights of our stay in Sapa and the hotel also arranged for the rental of a scooter.
Amazing stay with beautiful view. The Bungalow is spacious, clean and comfortable with many windows. The owner of this homestay is kind and helped me book a night bus back to Hanoi. Food is good in the restaurant. One of my best stays in Vietnam. Highly recommended and value for your money. Better stay here than in Sapa.
Really Nice hotel right in the middle of Sapa, lots of nice bars, restaurants and touristy things within walking distance. Room was comfy and clean and the staff were nice too. Had the Nicest breakfast in Vietnam thus far, really good.. Lovely mountain views from rooms too, really nice.
What a fantastic hotel! The location is great, close to the center but without all that noise. Rooms are clean, the mattresses are wonderful. This also applies to breakfast, both intercontinental and Vietnamese. The service comes with a big smile, which makes you happy! Recommended!
The receptionist is really hospitable and helpful. He’s always smiling. Everyone is really nice in sapa. My family enjoyed our vacation!! And also, the location of the hotel is very accessible. We can go out anytime we want, it’s just walking distance! Highly recommended :)
Everything was perfect. The room was big and nice. Terrace was also great. Swimming pool also nice, just the gym could be bigger but it seemed not to be used anyway. The hotel was well managed and efficient. The breakfast was the best we had nit only in Vietnam.
This hotel was our favourite in Vietnam. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Rooms were clean and beds so comfortable. And the best was the wonderful view of the mountains and valley.
We arrived at Sapa at 4am, we got early check in with humble staff. The receptionist is helpful. We rent some motorcycles from the hotel and they told where is the favorite to go.
