Lovely and cute town, nice weather. Didn't rain much when we were around Sa Pa. Easy to get around with lot of transport options. Nice people and good vibe of the town.
We would definitely avoid the day journey transfers from Hanoi to Sa Pa and vice versa. Overnight journeys would be productive I feel.

In my opinion, Sapa is now an extremely bad place to stay for more than a day or two. Crowded with people and traffic, a very noisy city full of smog and garbage. On the other hand, it is an ideal base for short scooter trips to the surrounding areas. But if you can, look elsewhere for cheaper accommodation. We found good food only with great difficulty and very far from the center, basically unreachable without a motorbike. Today, Sapa is a classic tourist attraction with all the classic ills of the tourism industry.

The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city,...
The city of Sapa has turned into a super touristic city, with crowding, bustle and traffic jams on the streets. Everything is very expensive with very low value for money.
Unfortunately we encountered many children in local costumes dancing or taking photos with tourists for a few baht. Local organizations advise tourists not to give money or candy to children so as not to encourage them to drop out of school.
However, the surrounding villages are very beautiful to enjoy the nature, the wonderful view, peace and quiet, The transportation from Sapa to the villages is relatively cheap for citizens who trade with Euro or Dollar. In the surrounding villages there are many good options for accommodation and food with wonderful nature, good services and reasonable prices. There are many hiking trails and all hoteliers can arrange to have a guide at a low price. You can thus meet people from some local tribes and discuss their way of life.
Prefer the surrounding villages, anyway no attractions are inside Sapa.
Currency exchange is not very easy. ATMs only spoke Vietnamese, the bank only opened in the morning, and the currency exchange shop gave a much lower rate. For credit or debit card transactions they charged an additional 5%. Many attractions only accepted cash for the ticket.
In summary I recommend staying outside of Sapa and carrying enough cash.

Sapa is a well known tourist destination.
Sapa is a well known tourist destination. The Cable Car to Fansipan was really awesome. The Cable Cars are a bit expensive for Vietnam standards, but it's completely understandable considering the engineering used to build it. They are still much cheaper than ones I've been on other places in the world(Hong Kong, Gatlinburg USA, others).
The Glass Elevator/Bridge about 30 minutes drive from the city was an amazing experience and highly recommended.
Around the Sapa station area, we tried to sit and relax from walking around all day. Some street sellers dressed in ethnic outfits stood right next to us even after we said no several times. Even after we bought something, 2 more of them showed up and wanted us to buy more. After 10 minutes we had to leave, because we couldn't relax due to their aggressive selling.

From Hanoi to Sa Pa is quite a distance away, travel by train around 7 to 8 hours, travel by bus also around 5 to 6 hours.
We are group family stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. This is one of the nicest place, perfect located, and real value of all the places we have stayed in Vietnam. The room was very clean, modern, had everything we needed to feel at home, and was an easy walk to the centre and many places we want to see. Also few steps to local & international restaurants and cafes. The owner and all staffs were great too which made us very comfortable and warm during stayed. We would highly recommend this wonderful place in Sapa.
Undoubtedly the best stay I had through the 2 weeks I had in north Vietnam. Room was large, clean, and had a spectacular view of the mountains. Staff are so kind, friendly and helpful - big thank you to Mi who was always ready to help. Booking the villages trek, transport, etc was fuss-free and easy. When I left the staff also prepared some snacks and drinks for the bus ride. Sapa is touristy but this hotel made my experience so much better. Will definitely stay here if I come back to Sapa again.
This was the nicest hotel we stayed in whilst travelling Vietnam. The hotel is brand new and everything feels so clean and fresh. The rooms are really bright and spacious, with super comfortable beds. The staff really go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, haven’t had as good service as this before from a hotel! Breakfast is really tasty too. Location is good to be able to walk into Sapa and explore the local cafes and restaurants.
Very comfortable homestay, centrally located in Sapa Town with the most lovely and helpful staff. They allowed me to check in at 2am, and arranged my night bus to Hanoi at the best possible price including a shuttle to the bus station.
The hotel itself is very new, meaning all facilities are updated and modern. Comfortable beds, complimentary toiletries and they will soon be offering breakfast. Great views from the balcony and rooftop as well!
The hotel is three minutes from the center, but at the same time it is quiet. The rooms are clean, clean towels and clean sheets. A pleasant balcony. The room has a kettle with tea and coffee and water at no extra charge. The hotel staff is especially nice, very kind and nice. A varied breakfast of Vietnamese food, but also fresh fruit, juices, coffee, eggs, pancakes, salads and more. The stay is definitely recommended
One of the best hotels we stayed in Vietnam! The room was perfect: spacious and lovely decorated, bed is really comfy and the view to the mountains AMAZING! Really quiet and peaceful place. The staff was excellent! Autumn was such a great help, she booked us the tour, the bus tickets to Hanoi, we used laundry service too, all employees were nice and professional! Definitely recommend to my friends!!
This hotel was the best in our trip in Vietnam.
The room were clean, big, comfortable and with amazing view. Extensive buffet breakfast accommodating every taste. The staff was exceptional! Kind and always ready to help! They also kept our lugguage the check out day until we got the sleeper bus back to hanoi. Thank you for everything! Highly raccomended!
This is a fantastic hotel run by Anna & her husband who will help you with anything you need to do. She organised our trekking, bus ticket to Ha Giang, cable car tickets, laundry and motorcycle. We had view of mountains from our balcony which was fantastic. Room was great and a good breakfast. One of the best places we have stayed in Vietnam
All staff were very helpful and friendly. Front desk went above and beyond to help me arrange for transportation from the hotel to Noi Bai Airport. Hotel was extremely clean and view was spectacular (when the weather would cooperate). Spa was great. Buffet was spectacular as there were a wide range of western and Vietnamese options.
The homestay is located in between rice fields. From the lovely balcony you can enjoy the view while sipping on a cold (or warm) Vietnamese coffee :)
Our host Dinh and her husband were courteous, helpful and very welcoming. They really made our stay worry free so we could turn our heads off - best homestay/hotel so far!
Staff can speak English, this is very very helpful when traveling in Vietnam. During winter time, the beds are equipped with warmer pad and it's already warmed when we enter our room! Staff also helpful in arranging transportation during our stay. We definitely recommend this homestay for your accomodation in Sa Pa.
This hotel is a pure gem, I can highly recommend. The staff is super helpful and friendly (many thanks again Tina). The views from the rooms and restaurant are stunning (do take a room with valley view). The breakfast has everything you can imagine, the best we’ve had in Vietnam.
Throughout your vacation, you'll have the chance to experience top-notch room service and dedicated assistance from the staff at Vip Sapa Hotel. Don't miss out on the delicious breakfast served at the hotel, a convenient way to kickstart your day.
Quan is so so so kind and caring!! He’s the owner of the hotel and we love him so much! He’s like a big brother to us, he guided us on the best places, taught us how to brew Vietnamese coffee, gave us food, etc. He made our trip extra special! 💖
The best hotel we had at vietnam at this price. This is a totally different standard than other hotels in sapa, and even if a bit more expensive, it's totally worth it.
Sun, the guy working at reception was especially nice :)
En Hotel Sapa provides guests with a taste of local culture through its traditional décor, authentic cuisine, and cultural performances. It's an immersive experience you won't soon forget!
The flexibility in terms of check in check out and all the arrangements that they did for us. Chau at the reception was exceptional. One of the best hotels during our trip to Vietnam.
It was extremely comfortable and the staff was absolutely amazing - especially Autumn made our stay so welcoming. Hands down the best hotel we stayed at in Vietnam so far.
