I lived in Tampa for almost 35 years.
I lived in Tampa for almost 35 years. Business and career kept me there, but I cannot imagine ever wanting to visit just for vacation. When the weather is predictable, it is either because of high heat or biting cold. Entertainment is mostly in the category of Championship Wrestling or Monster Truck shows. Go there if you must.

First visit to Tampa and liked everything except the traffic. It was worse than Atlanta. Ybor city reminds me of a small version of Bourbon street but go there during the day, I was told it can be dangerous at night. Gaspars Grotto had the best Cuban sandwich and soup I've ever had and the drinks were good and a strong pour. But be prepared for chickens running around everywhere. It was a fun and unique experience. Went to a concert at Raymond James Stadium and they have the best traffic and parking set up I've encountered. We got to our car and were back at our hotel in 30 minutes. A+++ for whoever designed and handles that. We decided to get to the concert parking lot early because of our bad experiences at other venues. Took a Lyft to a restaurant till we needed to go back to the venue. Scheduled our Lyft back as soon as we got there. Never showed up so we took a PediCab and it was great and efficient. Literally got us from the restaurant to our stadium gate in 4 minutes and 36 seconds. Costs about 9 dollars per minute per person. I even left my phone in the cab by accident (with all my credit cards in the case), driver had given us his number in case we needed him after the show, we called and he brought it right back to us. Thank you Goody, you're the best. Overall, I look forward to going back and exploring more that Tampa has to offer.

The Florida Aquarium was awesome.
The Florida Aquarium was awesome. We happened to be in Tampa during Gaspirilla and we were able to find parking within a mile of the Convention Center and see the Flotilla. The Zoo at Lowry Park was enjoyable.

We were there for the RV Super show thinking we would stay...
We were there for the RV Super show thinking we would stay close but wow, what a horribly dirty motel. The sheets and comforter had really bad oily stains. The paint on the walls was peeling off with huge patches of missing paint all over. The room had cockroaches. The bed springs were broken creating a large crevice across the bed. The parking lot was dirty with garbage everywhere. Th A/C smelled like mildew. This is only something you would see in movies. We got to the room and quickly turned around and left. I honestly can’t believe this place is allowed to stay open.
The Hyatt House Tampa Downtown is a great hotel. The staff is really friendly and helpful, especially the cleaning staff. The cleaning staff did a great job making sure the room and common restrooms were really and I mean really clean!
Beds and cushions were really comfortable and we had a great view on the city.
The hotel has a nice bar where we enjoyed several days the happy hour, the Cuban croquetas and chicken I can recommend.

Our room was a king corner and it had the most amazing view! The room was spacious and still private; I did not notice the room noise as much as I expected from a room with 2 walls of windows. And the BED. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. The hotel itself was perfectly located for our needs, with ample parking and a welcoming lobby, and a very short walk to the trolley or to downtown/Amalie Arena. I also liked the adjacent Starbucks.
I found this to be quite good value for money compared to the rest of Tampa appartments. There could be a few more kitchen utensils here and there, but overall a very good place to stay for a few days. I found this to be within walking distance from downtown (~30 mins), so that's a plus!

The street the hotel is on has a lot of bars and restaurants. Book dinner at The Columbia restaurant in the old Bar area of the restaurant. Best Spanish food.

The check in process was seamless. The interior of the property is beautiful and is consistent with the listing photos, the view is breathtaking. The location is great with easy access to TPA, downtown Tampa, and St. Pete-Clearwater.
Good location and easy access to downtown. There is a scooter parking in front of the hotel. E-scooters are an easy way to move around without parking problems. The hotel also had a shuttle bus service to Tampa Convention Center.

My room was very clean and welcoming. The reception staff and shuttle driver were very friendly and helpful. It is a nice place to stay when flying in and out of Tampa.
Breakfast was good, it was nice to have something warm. Very close to the TECO, great location for cruise travel and exploring downtown Tampa. Kids enjoyed the pool even in the cool temperatures.
